I always think it’s hilarious when Democrats call Republicans SOCIALISTS for wanting something back for their taxes.

You know, for roads and bridges and fire stations and law enforcement...

Its not that complicated. In fact with time, and a little grit, you too may reach the same conclusion.

All of that.
Because all of those things you listed are provided by the government.
They didn't have to be.
They could be completely private sector.
Indeed, most of them used to be!
Ever heard of a turnpike?
Private road you had to pay to use.
(Now, turnpikes are almost all government owned.)
Bridges? Socialism... Put the private sector ferry operators out of business.
Fire stations? Often voluntary and, in some locales, private sector just like trash service.
Law enforcement? Well, by definition, that's public because the public makes the laws. That's not really a service. Still, many law enforcement activities are outsourced...

And, the US Military! The biggest oldest socialist program on Earth and mandated to be so by the Preamble to the US Constitution. Why? Because the founders knew that a national military would be safer and more effective than a private sector one subcontracted out by national government.

Yes, it is. Think about it.
I realize thinking is challenging for conservatives, but what was life like 20,000 years ago?
It wasn't until the advent of agriculture about 12000 years ago that civilization started.
And with it, came the partitioning of labor and the advent of community structures akin to governments. And, with that, some form of way to pay for others products and services and agreed upon rules, etc. Taxation was how you kept the community services going.

Since you are young, here is some free education made just a few years before you were born...

It's hard to understand these buffoons. What are they trying to get you to admit to? We live in a society, and we can't all have our own roads. We can't all have our own fire departments. Some things require a group effort. But you CAN have your own student loans, and you CAN pay them back without screwing your neighbor.

Since we have a centralized government yes it’s the federal government’s job to send disaster, relief. If we lived in a federalist society, like I think we should, it’s not a government job to provide relief.
