No we do not need a federal government and it should be done away with. It should never have been created in the first place, and very nearly was not.
We do need a limited number of functions that are currently done by the federal government, but those can be done in other ways.
The federal government gets way too much attention in the media and national dialog. Why is that, when the state government has so much more affect on us? Almost all laws that affect us are state laws, or local ordinances. Our education, police, fire, roads, parks, infrastructure, etc are mostly at the state and local level. But I bet most people could not even name their state representative, yet they can name federal politicians who have far less affect on their lives.
I don't understand why people complain about the federal government so much, yet want them to do more and more. If they suck so bad at it, it makes no sense to want them to do more. Are people masochists or what?
We should have stuck with a confederation instead of making a federation.
anyone who says shutdown the federal government needs to account for all the federal government does.
is it bloated, corrupt, self-serving, and often glutted with some of the greediest americans? yes.
but is it needed? yes

Someone has to coordinate all the individual states. That's why the Founding Fathers created a Federal government with minimal powers and responsibilities. Unfortunately, the Federal government has grown into a huge organization, taking over powers that should rightly belong to the states.
If the federal government disbanded, sooner or later there would be wars either between states or regions. As it stands now, I envision a breakup of the United States within this century. It will take the form generally of red and blue states. And there will be East Coast and West Coast socialist city-states.
This is complicated, post WWII we had a huge Federal Government. We did not downsize back then and this is the mess we have now. Many people think that the job of government is to solve problems. That is not what the Founders wanted. The government is the worst possible entity to choose to solve problems. That is why things are so fu**ed up right now.
Besides the military they really create more chaos than they solve. Theydefinitely are not worth the money we spend on it.
You could in theory have a village of 150 people doing right by each other.
You also could have a grocery store have 1500 plus people working to maintain a larger population of millions of people.
Small government is needed.
Not corrupt, bloated, non transparent, endless taxes and regulations and bureaucracy.
Efficient, lean government. Defense, courts, police, fire, infrastructure.
yes, you'd be wiped out if didn't. as big as it is, probably not.
Yes, it is needed. In the least invasive form possible, though. Oh, and I love the T-shirt!
For very limited functions we need a federal government. Nothing like the obscene behemoth it is now.
Absolutely. I've lived in at least 2 states that needed a little help from Washington.
Yes we need the federal government. We do not need the idiot who's in charge of it now
Yes, and that (likely) Libertarian T-shirt shows what childish, selfish a**holes they are !!!
