Anyone else notice the selling of gold to conservatives... coffee too on a lesser level?

This could be just my overactive conspiracy theorist mind at work here, but I do consume a lot of left wing and right-wing content. I'm noticing that gold in particular really gets pushed on the right-wing side of things. Am I just being a nut job or is this a thing?

It's not a bad idea to have tangible assets.

In 1933, the FDR administration passed a law that required people to turn in their gold and gold certificates or for other money. In 1964, the LBJ administration took silver out of coins and stopped backing silver certificate bills.

Now, paper currency is at the whim of inflation. It has no intrinsic value and is only worth the face value. It is backed by nothing. The copper, nickle and zinc in coins is now worth more that the face value.

I still have some silver dollars, Kennedy halves, and mercury dimes.
In the 80s I was buying silver proof and mint sets from the U. S. Mint.

Because the federal government is in debt; countries around the world are ceasing trade in U. S. petro dollars and going with gold backed currency; the economic system is barely being held together; the wealthy are grabbing every tangible asset as quickly as possible; and every effort is being made to eliminate hard currency entirely and go to digital currency, it's a good idea to have some gold and silver coins or bullion for use as barter if and when the economy falls off a cliff.

I don't know about investing in precious metals, but owning a bunch seems like a good idea. Those metals are bound to increase in value because they are essential for making many things, not just coins and bullion.
Owning bullets is a good idea, too. They are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and are skyrocketing in value.

Right wings like things to stay the same, since gold was for the longest time our top currency, they are the ones who would have a higher interest buying something that was in the past our biggest value

I think it has a lot to do with mistrust of the Federal Reserve and a belief in impending economic collapse. Precious metals have always been a safe investment.

No, but I'm not surprised- conservatives (and conservative-leaning libertarians) tend to be resentful of the Federal Reserve (for reasons that are generally VERY poorly thought out), and more intelligently, worried about inflation, so they're big investors in precious metals.

As the current round of inflation is, broadly speaking, a consequence of Democratic policies, most Democrat party are tacitly encouraging people to overlook it, and most of the less intelligent Democrats are happy to oblige, so even those who would be joining in on the gold run aren't; they see what The Other Party is doing as inherently bad.

Gold has been a stereotypical staple advertisement on the right for a very long time, including regular TV programs. This is heavily influenced by the fact rightwing news viewers tend to be older and more likely to invest in precious metals. Coffee is much more recent, I assume due to demand for an alternative to Starbucks and more recently, Black Rifle Coffee Company.

I didn't noticed it, but gold is and always was a solid and stable investment.

People who believe inflation will lead to the collaps of society tend to look for other valueables to exchange their money, in order to be less of a victim.

For example in venuzuella, people exchange their paychecks into US$ as this will keep the value over the next weeks.

Because Democrats are fucking up the economy and now leftists want to try to forbid people from using currency, so gold is the only tried and true valuable asset. Paper is worthless, crypto is worthless, gold is forever.
