Why do some people fall under their spell while others don’t?

If you're in the prestigious group you actively better your life at the expense of the "others". You're in with the group or activity expelled as the "other" as an example. They believe they themselves are the core of the world.

It does take a worldly mindset to fathom the reason that any human fighting injustice compromises my own ability to seek justice.

So the Authoritarian ultimately underestimate how fragile moody and incentives to kill them off.

The left has rejected God and replaced Him with the religion of government.

These authoritians tell people who are desperate to feel loved, and to feel like they matter
So these political leaders tell them what they want them to hear, and do just enough to make them think they matter.
And because people are so desperate they follow them with everything they have

Sheeple WANT to be led and fed pablum. Look at WW2 Germany; Hitler was an intelligent, charismatic speaker & leader. He literally hypnotized a WHOLE nation, telling them what they wanted to hear!
