I seriously want to know. All I've heard is all about American's being about freedoms and free speech, yet Trump has been extremely authoritarian, and people seem to accept it. Why do you want this?
- 2.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
7 moWhy do you? The democrats are equally authoritarian. Only the democrats are pushing to disarm law abiding citizens so that they can’t protect themselves from the same violent criminals you let run amok with impunity. It wasn’t republicans who appointed their presidential nominee without an election. Democrats did that. Democrats were the first to deny election results, not once but twice. Then fabricate the Russian collusion hoax in order to keep from relinquishing power. The Biden administration weaponized the justice system to oppress his political opponents. Drumpf has done absolutely nothing that one or more democrats haven’t done before. You cheered and regaled when Obama deported more illegal immigrants than any other president in US history.
You only have a problem with the exact same behaviors because you don’t like Drumpf. You don’t have a single reasonable argument to the contrary. When YOUR team is in power, you choose to ignore their authoritarianism.
If you want better leadership, trying being less hypocritical and way less willfully ignorant. Drumpf didn’t win the election. You numbnuts democrats handed it to him on a silver platter. And you’re only gaining momentum in your race to the bottom of the next election and the one after that.
Perfectly reasonable classic liberals calling out your nonsense or flat out leaving the party should be a wakeup call. But by all means, keep doing exactly what you have been doing. It’s working out so well for the rest of us! 🤣🤣🤣🤣21 Reply- 7 mo
There doesn't actually need to be a primary election to have a candidate. No laws or rules say that. What laws or executive orders were given by Biden or Obama that were authoritarian and blocked by judges? That's why the executive orders by Trump were blocked. He also created DOGE which operated with no oversight whatsoever.

- The treatment of people who opposed the draft and entrance into WWI by Wilson.
- The Bonus Army gunned down by National Guard in Washington DC under Hoover.
- College students at Kent State and other colleges attacked and shot by National Guard, and the attack on the Wounded Knee Occupation under Nixon.
- Waco and Ruby Ridge under Clinton.
- The violent suppression of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest and the violent seizing of ranch land in the west under Obama. Not to mention his deportation of 3 million illegal aliens.
- The extremely oppressive covid mandate measures under Biden.
These are just a few examples off the top of my head. There have been others.
I hate authoritarianism. But I can't say that I'm opposed to the suppression of violent leftists who riot, vandalize, loot and commit arson. And while I think Trump is going overboard by pursuing every single undocumented person in this country, he was elected to fix the mess created by Biden.
I do opposed restrictions on free speech, especially in regards to making it a crime to criticize Israel and support Palestinians.20 Reply

1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No "authoritarian" regime in history ever set up tents and invited their critics to engage in open dialogue. Then when the most prominent debater got murdered in front of his family by one of the people he was trying to engage in dialogue with the response of an authoritarian regime would be riots and looting, not prayer meetings, candlelit vigils and talk of forgiveness for the killer.
I'll grant you the Charlie Kirk memorial extravaganza was too much in its "spectacular" presentation, but in fairness it wasn't him that organised it.19 Reply- 7 mo
I've seen a couple of the campus debaters since his murder and I think there's an element of fear in them. Which should be understandable - Charlie was murdered for trying to engage in discourse with the people that then openly celebrated that he was murdered in front of his family. I'd be concerned as well.
Fear can sound like hostility, but maybe give them a bit of time to find their pace. Charlie Kirk was a brilliant debater. He was respectful and took time to listen to anyone who came to the mic, no matter how deranged their speech was. I've not seen a single leftist come close to that, including Biden. Let's not forget that RFK Jr is in Trump's cabinet because the Dems rigged the primaries so nobody except Biden could win, then stuffed Harpy Harris in without a single vote in a primary when it became obvious they couldn't get Joe through the campaign, never mind another term.
I admire Erika Kirk for her statement forgiving Charlie's murderer. I'm not sure my Faith is strong enough to say I could have done the same in the timeframe she did. I guess I'm still a bit carnal as Christians go, but we all have our flaws.

7 moSupporting a president who enforces law, secures borders, and protects free speech isn’t authoritarian — it’s constitutional. There’s a clear difference between strong leadership and tyranny. I don’t support authoritarianism; I support accountability and order. You see authoritarianism — I see a government finally putting America’s interests first. Perspective shapes perception.

1. I don’t live in a liberal city plagued with crime and anarchy.
2. I wouldn’t be stupid enough to go out and protest and riot against ICE for doing the job I and many other Americans voted for them to do. I hope the protesters and rioters who do as you say move in an aggressive manner do get shot. 🤷🏻♂️ - 7 mo
Because you, people like you, and the fake news media make that baseless claim in an attempt to make it seem like democrat cities aren’t dealing with worse crime than they actually are. If any of that were true, the president would have no reason to step in when the governors of those states do nothing. Police in democrat states aren’t even doing their jobs.

They've fired a lot of FBI men who did sketchy stuff. Probably a lot of the phony rioters were among them.

There's video of the capital police leading members of the crowd into the building, giving them a tour. People were held in prison for 4 years for nothing. Pure corruption and persecution of political enemies worthy of a vile dictatorship.

7 moIf you mean Obama, I don't support him.
Liberals just don't get it. THEY are the authoritarians. THEY are the ones who push their agenda on everyone else whether they want it or not. THEY are the ones who don't give a shit about anything else but THEIR agenda. Which is exactly why they always get their way.
Or maybe "progressive" no longer means pushing their agenda on everyone else.

How did Obama try to become or build policies that are authoritarian? If you think he was trying or was you'd have to say the same logic you used to configure this thought would have to apply to Trump. That would also mean Tru. o is way worse by comparison.
I think you're conflating authoritarianism and liberals asking people to remember that we are all equal under the constitution as pushing agendas. Yes we can push each other to recognize certain groups of people exist whether you like them or not and you'd have to remember we're all equal under the law. Your feelings don't matter but no one forced you to be something you're not. - 7 mo
@Friendlybro79
Read my last line again and think about it.
Why do you think the country has gone in a pretty much continuous leftward direction for longer than I've been alive? Liberals always get their way because they force it on people whether they want it or not. THAT is authoritarian. - 7 mo
So shouldn't Obama still be in power? Who's in power now? What is happening now with the trump administration? Where are you in space and time? It is 2025 and if you think that is true of the left... Then where in your eyes ideas are in itself authoritarian... how are the actions of this administration not? You're comparing ideas being pushed on you as authoritarian lol. Thats exchanging different opinions that you don't like. That's free speech free expression that's the first fucking amendment lol. You don't have to like it but your right to disagree was never taken away by Obama.
Can you say if you disagree with Trump he won't try to end you? Lol ask Jimmy Kimmel or any news anchors he sues. He acts like a wannabe dictator and is trying to see how he can use our own military against us. He's occupying troops in our cities... that's what dictators do lol.
You have no idea what you're talking about. If Obama pulled this shit in a red state he would have been crucified by the right and you'd be saying he was a dictator... the problem is he never did anything in comparison. You're uneducated on this topic and being disingenuous because your "team" is winning lol. Any fools that forget we're all on the same team despite our differences that God forbid someone tries to talk to you about is being divisive. If we collapse it will be over you accepting a dictator that aligns with your beliefs and when it affects you, you'll be so confused because no one has more contempt for Republican voters than Republican politicians. They think you're all idiots. Trump said it himself. He could shoot someone in fifth Ave and you'd still vote for him. That's code for my constituents are imbeciles. - 7 mo
Also, I think people are turning more to the left, which is about half the population mind you so not overwhelmingly to the left, because being liberal isn't being communist, Marxist, fascist, socialist like the right tries to paint us. We just look at things like healthcare, paid family leave, higher wages for average Americans, and education that is affordable as important. US productivity per worker is up over the last 50 years much higher than salaries. We've lost pensions, get paid less, allowed private equity firms to buy up our homes to make us permanent renters, all the whole corporations are hoarding off of the profits their employees make them. You don't have to agree with me and I don't want to force you to believe me. If your wallet isn't affected by both ineffective democrat and Republican parties then good for you. Most of us have has enough of the status quo. That's being a liberal progressive. We challenge it. That's not being authoritarian. If you don't like what I have to say keep voting for guys sending troops in our cities. I guess until someone you care about it snatched by masked men you'll either double down on this administration or wake up. Legal citizens are being illegally detained. You have to care about that even if it's in blue cities because we're all American. If you think that if it's blue it's evil we're lost.
8.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I don't and Trump hasn't been doing anything that the constitution has not allowed him to do. Everything he has done were things other presidents have done and tards like you come out to call HIM the authoritarian while never thought to do the same for the other presidents who did the same exact thing.
20 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Thank you for being the voice of reason, Twalli. Trump is basically trying to create a dictatorship, and evangelical "Christians" support it. I personally believe Trump has been allowed back in office to actually be a punishment on the people who love and voted for him.

Yeah, these low IQ people have been indoctrinated into a cult of submissiveness since birth for generations now. They naturally put their neck on the ground and their ass in the air on command. And they hate other poor people rather than the people subjugating them because they are told to do it. They never question the cult or it's conspiracy theories. But reality is the devil for them.
