Should a transgender woman be allowed to compete with regular women in a woman's only sport?

Apparently Heather Swanson is no longer parody, because women who are very obviously transgender and not real women are now competing in women's sports and dominating just like biology says they should. But women also want to be equal to men, so for the sake of equality should transwomen be allowed to compete with regular women?

Truth. They really don’t care about women’s issues. It’s all about their culture war against transgender people. Some studies show transgender athletes may retain a slight advantage but in practice, transgender athletes aren’t exactly dominating women’s sports, so there’s probably more important issues to worry about.

No they are not. You cherry picked a bicycle race but when it comes to college, Olympic and professional sports, transgenders are not dominating women’s sports. I do have some questions about the fairness of their participation but this not a crisis situation and the outrage is largely exaggerated.

If you are going to split sport into "men" and "women" then, yes. They would indeed qualify under the "women" category.

If you dont split sport up into "men" and "women" and instead just host a tournament where everyone is allowed to compete while at the same time setting up a separate tournament with a more specific criteria such as the Paraolympics but for only "women" then you would have a better grounds to make arbitrary limitations which disqualifies transgender women.

So far we are in the first category at which point we dont really get to complain.

No, transgender women should not be allowed to compete with genetic women in a woman's only sport as they have physical advantages that genetic women do not, that was made obvious by the margin that Lesley Mumford won by at that Cyclocross race. It shows that transgender women should be in a division of their own, as they are kicking the heart out of genetic women who have been competing at championship level, but who have now given up due to transgender women outstripping them by significant margins irrespective of the sport.

NO. transgender "women" should not be allowed to compete in women's sports. Being born as a male and suddenly "identifying" as a woman doesn't give you the right to compete in women's sports. This should not have to even be a question. I saw an interview or something on this topic. A woman was saying that as a girl at six foot if she went up against a guy at six foot in basketball, he would win. If you decide to want to be a woman if you have a penis that is on you. But it's wrong for you to compete in women's sports with WOMEN born with female body parts. Women are not as strong as men. That's just a fact. So why let some guy who identifies as a woman compete with real females? That's almost like saying "well I identify as an animal so I don't have to work and I get treated like a pet" it's almost disrespectful towards women to put a transgender on their team or to play against them.

If there is any doubt or confusion as to what category they should be in, they should go "up a level"... so they are not "cherry picking".

at some point they can have "trans" category which they fit into and "open".. for any human, and as well "trans species"... any species can compete.

No. There are lots of people who cannot compete in sports due to physical issues. I don't see it as an unreasonable burden to say that someone who identifies differently from their biology cannot compete in sports.

You are right, it is totally dependent on when the sex change occurred. If it occurred before secondary sexual characteristic develop, such as muscle mass. Then OK. no unfair advantage. If secondary characteristics have developed then no.
