Do Republicans not realize that they are dying off?

I've heard arguments from Republican YouTubers about how the party should be an even smaller "tent", how it should exclude the LGBT community, as well as anyone who is not white evangelical Christians.

The reality is that the majority of the Republican party is over 55% of the Republican party is over 50, and half of those are over 65. So in the next 15 years the party will have basically aged out because they don't appeal to young people.

Compound this with the ideology of some that it should be exclusively Christian, that knocks out another 20%. If you factor in they claim they should exclude LGBT folks, they represent 10% of what's left.

If you take all of that and multiply it by the fact that only 44% of people vote Republican... that'd a 12% loss BEFORE the party's members die off! Do they ever want to actually win an election again or what?

Of course they do- hence the anti-trans hysteria, to convince people that they're under attack, so they're more motivated to vote, and being attacked at the most vulnerable point: their children.

The thing is, both parties are actually desperate to maintain homeostasis, since otherwise, they risk actually being held accountable for their policies. That's why the Republicans are doing just fine: they've gotten a huge influx of voters from people the Democrats have driven away. The mostly Republican-appointed Supreme Court says "the federal government has no business making laws about abortion"; the protestors say "Keep your laws off my body!", and the logical people point out "Yes, that's what the court just said". And the Democrat line is "Republicans are trying to give the government power over what you do with your body! Also, we need government-funded healthcare."

Inflation is out of control, due to dollar over-creation at a time when the economy is crippled from being all but shut down for months or even years, and the line between those who admitted the mistake and opened up quickly and those who held fast until it could no longer be denied is almost exactly along party line. Decades of gains in social and economic inequalities have been erased, and the Democrat line is "We may need to shut down again, for climate reasons!".

Spreading both manufacturing and resource production to other countries has brought us to a point where energy prices are soaring, and many people, especially among the newly-poor, are left with no means to heat their homes, unless they plan to go hungry. This is the result of DECADES of poor planning, by Republicans and Democrats alike, and the perfect opportunity for either party to come forward and say it's time to reverse it, perhaps even showing personal maturity by reaching across the aisle to make a bipartisan bill to return production (and, by extension, jobs) to US shores, but no- the Republicans ignore the issue, giving Democrats the best chance possible, but the Democrat line is "Oil bad! We need to convert to solar energy (which releases MORE greenhouse gas in terms of GWP-100 than fossil fuels) and electric cars (which currently are proportionately more dangerous than Pintos)!".

Even among those who DO fear Republican stances on things like gay marriage and tax rates, many are smart enough to realize that those things don't matter if we can't keep the lights on or get food into the stores. It's a question of odiousness versus raving insanity, and the Democratic tendency of ostracizing people who fail to slavishly tow the dogma line says they're in much more danger than the Republicans currently are.

If the electorate were smart, they'd realize that this is a perfect opportunity to ditch both of them are create something better- but they're by and large too indoctrinated by the abovementioned fear to try.

You problem is that you consume fake news... Your fake news organizations only poll Democrats, because they have lost the their integrity and everyone else has stop listen to them and participating in their polls. You get garbage results because you are working with a bias data set. All that does is keep blind to the reality around you...

Bellwether states are ones that reflect the way the country as a whole will vote. Florida is another one of the most reliable bellwether states in the entire nation. Here is what is really happening with voters in America... Notice how all registration types are up with the exception of the Democrat party which is in decline. This indicates that the population in general is very dissatisfied with Democrat ideologies. More people are registering because they feel they now need to vote and they are voting against the Democrats.

According to Gallup, "On average, Americans' political party preferences in 2021 looked similar to prior years, with slightly more U. S. adults identifying as Democrats or leaning Democratic (46%) than identified as Republicans or leaned Republican (43%).

So I don't know what kind of people you are listening to on Youtube, but I doubt if people are switching from Republican to Democrat. More and more people are realizing that the Democratic party is awful. A lot of people have wised up and abandoned party loyalty and partisan ideology, regardless of how they are registered.

By the way, I'm not a conservative, Republican, or right-libertarian. But I'm one of those former Democrats who would vote for almost anything but a Democrat.

President Trump and his policies have included some traditionally democratic voters into the MAGA movement. Union members have always voted democrat but most of them have come out for Trump. Law Enforcement have been big supporters as well. Th democrats have lost the hispanic vote. The open border policies piss off the people who stood in line to come here legally. President Trump got the biggest percentage of the black vote than any other Republican in history. They are not buying what the democrats are shovelling. You look at the age demographic and yes democrats pander to young voters by promising things like free college. The problem with that is that after a few years even the most stupidest among them will no longer be fooled by it. The party is no longer just for rich white guys. It is more about opportunities and the American dream and not about just handouts and control.

The Democrats are hard at work creating new Republicans every day by doing things like loudly promoting sex changes for kids (and calling anyone who doesn't want their son castrated a bigot) and destroying our once-beautiful cities through defunding the police and allowing people to steal, assault others, and shit in the streets without any consequences. There are a lot of people like myself who used to be Democrats and voted for Obama both times who are so disturbed my the party's embrace of woke insanity that the Republicans are looking good by comparison.

You do realize young people grow old right. And this is the great thing about being young. You're allowed to be stupid and do foolish things when you're young. Whenever a youngin who is democrat spouts off I just kind of grin. Because I know they haven't put it altogether yet. And when they do they'll either become an independent or join the republican party.

Whenever someone tells me they're a Democrat I always say "I'm proud of you. The first step is just like AA admitting to yourself you're problem. You're a Democrat now you can work on the recovery.

that's the way it's always been. What you will notice is that as those liberal kiddo's grow up and start earning real money they become little republicans to replace the one's that age out. Republicans aren't going anywhere.
