Simple question, I've found that outside of church and the supermarket I don't.

I'm the same as you, only very specific places, I've been on the receiving of too many feminists rant to care any more. the last time, I was out for the day with friends who both are wheel chair users and the auto opening door opening and closing erratically, so I held the door while they got through, a female walked up and I motioned for her to walk through, she lets go with the typical feminist rant, I just said 'Fine open it yourself' and walked away and the door slammed shut behind me and joined my friends, I could hear her thumping the door trying to open it, went on with a quiet day.

The goose variant is holding a door open for someone juuuust far away enough that they do that shuffle speed walk to catch it. 😈31 Reply

+1 yYes, out of habit.
It’s a good habit to have though.
Good manners and etiquette can go a long way.

What goes around comes around, I agree.
I suppose one of the core reasons is that I aspire to always better myself, to grow into the best man I can be.
And part of that, includes building strong character, and carrying myself in a way that I can feel proud of.
The best version of myself is a version of myself that would have good manners and treat others well.
Opening doors would be an extension of that. 🙂
314 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes 🙌 I do all the time but when people don’t hold the door for me, I’ll remember their faces and I’ll return the same courtesy. 🤣 I’m petty af.

+1 y100%. Always for women, but I do it even for guys, especially if they have stuff they are carrying or are right behind me and I don't want to close on them right when they are trying to go through it.
21 Reply Yes, I do. Every time. It's the right, decent thing to do, because the alternative is to slam it in their faces.
11 Reply446 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I always do without fail. It common courtesy and common decency and common sense. Above all it’s good manners and it’s the way I was raised.

+1 yI want to, but I'm physically slow and weak. It takes more time for me to get to get the door propped open and I'm afraid I'm annoying doing it.

Yes! Thank you for your understanding! Me and my hubby Spongebob deal with it daily but luckily Patrick helps us!
4.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I do. Usually behind me. Sometimes I mis-time it, and it takes an uncomfortable length of time for the next person to get there!
11 Reply3.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I will always hold or even open a door for the elderly. People with cane, walkers and wheelchairs. Also most people with their hands full.
Even younger people that are near by when I go through the door myself.10 Reply- 577 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yIt's the respectful thing to do so I do hold the door open for people behind me

You are absolutely right. Sometimes they thank me, other times they don't. That's when I make them look bad and say " you're welcome " very loud so everyone can hear.

@KetoJames Very much so!! Most of them do but, there's been a few instances where they act like it's MY JOB to open the door for them and I'm just a lowly peasant for them to trod on and don't DESERVE to even be spoken to by them!! About 15 years ago, I was walking along the mall and I happened to see some black woman heading for the door of a store she'd been in so, as I was passing the door, I just thought I'd open for her just to be nice! I wasn't even going INTO the store!! She walked out the door, never looked at me, never thanked me, NOTHING!! Of course, I thought, "You uppity bitch!!"

I do the same! "You're QUITE welcome, o queen!!"

Women are the worst. I will sometimes just stop and check my phone and make them open their own door. - +1 y
@KetoJames Not all of them, MOST of them thank me.

@FunkyMonkee
Most do, but after a while, you can spot the snobs that won't. I let them open the door. But I don't expect the snob to hold the door for me, because they will let it slam in your face. - +1 y
@KetoJames Even worse, wait `til they go into a revolving door and then block it from spinning!
