+1 yProbably being the best cat dad I can be to my rescue kittens.
Got rid of a bunch of terrorists, too, but a buncha people have done that. I'm the only one that has been a cat dad to these two rescue kittens.
Got my mom a retirement annuity. Pretty happy about that, but it wasn't "rescue kitten" big. Saved an abused puppy in Iraq and an abused dog in Afghanistan that was used as a bait dog. Brought him home for my mom. He's got a great life. Maybe that one. It's like the dog version of rescue kittens. Oh and a kitten that was lit on fire over there I brought back to the states and got her a home. That was pretty big.
Pulled a guy back into a truck as a sniper was lining up a head shot. Window took the hit instead. That was pretty big to him I guess. His dad offered me his daughter's hand in marriage. I politely declined.
Made friends with a fox family outside Tikrit. Helped raise two kits with the mom. They'd curl up by my boots in the winter and we'd have dinner together by the fire. Maybe that wasn't so much "achievement" as "cool experience" so maybe that doesn't count.

@Inbox My ex was jag. At least the wars are "over" now... fewer people getting deployed... more time for her at home. She missed out on the good days of war anyway... got too political towards the end. Marines are good people. You did well.

+1 yAll of my achievements have been academic, both in high school and college. I kinda didn't know who I was outside of school. I didn't excel in the workforce like I did in school. Sure i was recognized for perfect attendance and great KPI metrics, and even offered managerial positions... but it just didn't feel as good as how I stood out in school. I turned down the higher up positions because i knew I didn't want to work at those places for long and felt someone more loyal deserved the position. I don't know work just doesn't make me feel happy or successful like school did. But I dont want to go back to school. That was 5 years ago and I dont remember that shit now. I dont even put the crap I learned in school to use. Just a waste of 4 years honestly

If I have a kid, that’ll be my greatest achievement
+1 yGraduating from college. Giving back to my community through my work. Buying a house. Raising a good human (work-in-progress).
I don’t think I have a ton of big achievements— but my smaller achievements keep me going. Discovering new things I’m passionate about, writing, being in nature. I don’t know if those things are the achievements but working hard and being able to enjoy those things is definitely an achievement for me.10 Reply

I opened my own business and hired staff, I got married, and I had kids. After years of work, my career is now stable enough that I don’t have to spend every waking minute at work. I’m able to spend most evenings and weekends with my wife and kids. I’m at a point where I’m happy, and that is my greatest achievement.

+1 yI'd like to say buying a house, making my first $100K or some other material garbage. But as cheesy as this sounds, my greatest achievements in life were getting two incredible women to fall in love with me.
(Not at the same time lol)
Think about how amazing that is... to have another human being come into your life, give you special privileges with them, and actually be there to support you and love you through everything for however long it lasts. It's a fucking gift man, and it sure doesn't happen every day11 Reply- +1 y

It's a little tough at the time because money is not so much with my income and the one job she is she is looking for a second job and hopefully with that second job that paycheck can be totally her's because she really is my angel and I never meant for her to have to work even one job but you see God does put people into your path that are very much your diamond that you found in the rough even though that you may not know it at the time that is what you call a true blessing.

"Staying alive!" - to me, looking back... it's a miracle of sorts. I'm lucky. So many have other fates, they had no control over. It's a bit mind boggling to think about... life, consciousness... in time and space... and it pops up anew all over the place.
After that, finding my wife/getting married. Something I did not think was possible.

+1 yI only have one goal I ever achieved. Writing a book series. I finished 3 books so far. I've written other novels, including some horror and mystery novels, as well as some anthology collections.
I haven't published anything yet though, so I guess I haven't really achieved anything.
