Gender is a social construct, thus it's flexible. It changes for some people many times over life. You have no physical tie to your gender (reproductive organs are relevant to sex, not gender - if you didn't know there was a difference, start there).

Race is not. You can't change your race. You can alter your appearance, but not your actual ethnicity.

Have you seen those weird white people who get cosmetic surgery to look "Asian"? They could honestly just spend that effort to move and live in the places they idolize if they really wanted to live the culture. Instead, they fetishize race in a weird way.

You can certainly be race fluid, as this is about what you identify as. For example, Barack Obama identifies as black, but he has almost as much European ancestry as African ancestry. Same for Zendaya who might have slightly more than half European ancestry even. It is possible that later in her career she will assume a "mixed" identity instead of black.

Biologically, our species has no races, so we are quite free to make up such systems.
