What happens when falsely accused of a crime?

Lets say a person files a false police report on you, and the Police Investigate it, will you be charged?

if the state determines there's enough evidence to warrant a prosecution you go to court. Innocent until proven guilty? What do you think when you see someone got arrested for a high profile crime? "Oh look they arrested the guy that did [fill in the blank]". If you're falsely accused be prepared to pony up some legal defense fees or roll the dice with a public defender.

so if you are actually "falsely" accused, they would investigate, find that what you've been accused of is not true and the case is dropped. or if the one accusing to really wants to spend money, they can drag you into court, where they would have to proof that you did it, which they can't, cause you didn't do it.

You will only be charged if probable cause exists for an arrest and a prosecutor believes there is legitimate case to bring formal charges. If you’ve been falsely accused, there isn’t likely to be much, if any, evidence against you.
