It happens more often than most would like to admit. Some even go so far as to say it doesn't happen. Which week know is bullshit.
Honestly I think there needs to be a national registry of false accusers, akin to the national sex offender registry. And it should be reviewed any time said false accuser makes an accusation in the future. Additionally I think the false accuser should be forced to suffer the consequences that she made the falsely accused suffer.
And for those that say it's a crime.. It's almost never punished because if they started punishing false accusers, at least according to feminists, it would stop real victims from coming forward.

What should the consequences be for someone who falsely accuses someone of rape/sexual assault?
Some states already have adequate punishments for false accusations. A Pennsylvania woman was recently sentenced to a minimum of two months to a maximum of two years in jail for falsely accusing a man of r*pe. Plus she has to pay the man restitution and get professional counseling. The problem is that too few jurisdictions actually seek to punish false accusers because of lies about how it might affect real victims. There’s literally no empirical evidence to support that nonsense and there never has been. It’s the same as suggesting that we shouldn’t prosecute car thieves because law abiding car owners might stop buying cars so that they’re not mistaken for being criminals. Criminals are criminals and victims are victims. The justice system is flawed, for sure. But we have literally never put a woman in prison because she was r*ped, ever. It’s an absurd claim by feminists because they don’t care how men get hurt and ruined by false accusations and they demand that women hold no accountability for their own behavior, including crime.
There are horrible cases of false accusations and usually there are no repercussions on the accuser. In my locale :-
A young girl ran out of a park yelling she had been raped to some young guys who set off to catch the "rapist". They caught an elderly gay guy and kicked him to death. No charge for the girl despite being instrumental in causing a death and long prison sentence for the young bucks. Not even a charge of incitement to affray. Motivation was she wanted attention.
A wife wanted rid of her husband so she arranged for her best friend to seduce him and just before he ejaculated withdraw consent. On the verge of cumming he was unable to avoid the last couple of instinctive thrusts. The bright side was the best friend felt guilty after he had spent 5 years in jail and he got a pardon. The wife could have just gone for a no fault divorce so it was pretty egregious to set up a rape charge.
A girl in the UK deserves an honorable for buying a hammer and hitting herself in the face to support her rape allegation. Fortunately Tesco had cctv of her buying the hammer.
There should be repercussions for false allegations & conspiracy thereof with about the same consequence.
False accusers should end up with prison sentences. This should be based on the harm they've caused
Women who truthfully come forward with rape accusations will not be dissuaded from telling the truth simply because there have been liars who were punished for false accusations.
There is nothing more invasive than to be physically raped or assaulted in some manner. It may take time, but women who have been violated are angry and resentful, and when they have a chance for restitution, they will take advantage and pursue it.
No one is safe from sexual assault. A good friend's great aunt who was 80 at the time was raped by a teen-ager. So, no woman is safe, no matter how young or old. We are all under an obligation to protect ourselves and others.
These stupid, thoughtless women should be jailed, not out on "probation." This might stop that 11% of women who engage in false accusations from doing so. This kind of wrongheadedness is unconscionable.
It's wrong that they do it, but also it WOULD stop innocent victims from coming forward where they don't have enough proof or the perpetrator is rich/powerful enough to skate by on the charges. It's already hard as hell to nail someone on rape or sexual assault charges let alone get an arrest. Punishing an innocent victim of sexual assault just because of those reasons should never be an option.
That being said, if you do have someone who admits to lying to police about it, they absolutely should be punished. They should receive jail time and are also already setting thenselves to be sued for defamation.
It's no different than the death penalty. If there is a chance you could execute an innocent person (and it's happened before), you just don't do it.

The problem is, they don't, or they rarely see consequences, because the prevailing logic states that punishing false accusers will stop legit victims from coming forward.
Like I said, it would stop legitimate victims from coming forward so it's a tough call. I don't feel we should be labeling a true innocent victim as a liar or needing to be punished when there is not enough proof to convict.
It's when they confess to be a liar that I have more of an issue. They ruined a person's life over petty reasons and should be punished.
by the way I'm one of those guys that believes that capital punishment should be expanded to rape and child molestation.
I believe things like that make you a monster. That hurting someone like that takes away your humanity. So it should be punished harshly.
But there are those in the feminist community that believe that the crime of rape should be punished in a guilty until proved innocent manor.. Which I am strongly against. Which it kind of is, if you go based on the image above, cause he was treated as if he was guilty until they recanted their lie. At the very least the victim of said deception should be entitled to compensation from his accusers.
That I agree with. It should be innocent until proven guilty. However, you can't control public perception of rape/sexual assault especially in the case of minors.
Unfortunately, it will continue to stain people falsely accused of rape (or honestly, those totally guilty of it) because rape/sexual assault needs to be, and should always be, reported.
Let me ask, what would your response be if say your daughter falsely accused someone of rape. Her reason was she was covering up for cheating on her boyfriend?
I'd want to see her punished for going against everything I have taught her up to this point, but you better believe she will have my full support until I find out it's a lie.
If she did lie about it, I'm not against her serving jail time or, at the very least, community service for it. I have a very strong sense of justice, and that includes my loved ones.

Rape is different to every other crime is the problem.
It is an everyday day activity that is legal in most circumstances but not others. It is unusual in that nobody asks anybody to beat them up or to kill them. I might provoke that response but clearly I won't want to be beaten up or killed. With sex it can be both parties objective or only one parties objective.
Whilst I will make clear I object to being beaten or killed it possibly it is not made clear one party objects to sex ensuing.
I think - and maybe I'm wrong - that it is plausible that a man might think he is having consensual sex whilst the woman thinks she is being raped. In a lot of jurisdictions a woman might not need to express any objection to sex.
As I understand it a woman might go into a shock response and it can be a natural response for her to play dead. That is a real response. A rabbit might play dead as I am walking a field and I can just pick it up.
So it does seem plausible that I could think a woman is saying yes but she is just not saying no. Because I have no negative response there is no sense it is unwelcome.
In a lot of ways it is neither black or white in either way and it is unfortunate for both. It is possible it is just unfortunate without any real wrong.

Slander and libel are both defamation of character and can be pursued in a civil suit. however the penalties are pretty mild compared to someone accused of sexual assault which is a criminal offense. Should defamation of character ever be pursued as a criminal offense? I'd say yes. Deprive someone else of their freedom because of your lies and serve the same sentence you caused them to serve. You don't get off the hook because some future theoretical real victim may not come forward. You committed a crime. You should experience consequences.
Although NOT the usual scenario in sexual assault accusation cases, it does occur.
I had consensual sex with a 19 YO virgin while at Firestone... later when our relationship did not go as planned she told around the company that I raped her.
That should be a prosecute-able offense, and had it gone further, could have caused me horrible damage. Had it gone further, I would have had to get an attorney to defend me, and everyone know what a nightmare that would have been.

You need proof a crime of perjury has happened. Written detailed plan or talking to someone "hey I'm destroy this person life intentionally."
Also how much control does a victim have on police investigation? Sure they have to start it and press charges but from there it's the state police and prosecutors doing the heavy lifting. The government can be the one twisting the victims arm to pin it on the easiest person to convict.
At the end of this we are dealing with a bias. Being pointed at for a crime shouldn't mean a damn thing yet we are biased and make assumptions. Our constitution does it's best to counter bias in writing but at the end of the day you can't control how people feel.

Recanted is a good answer again it's called perjury legal action is going to happen. Again we have a bias for punishment for more extreme crimes in the news and local gossip.
Realistically it's going to be a civil liability case for damages. So cash for damages pain and suffering. On top of that broke bitch dosen't have any money. Never actually going to get any money worth collecting after going to jail for perjury.

Women constantly do this shit because they know it's unlikely they'll be punished and they also know there's a pretty significant chance he will be convicted in a court over these claims.
Women who make these false allegations should face at least five years in prison with a $10,000 fine for each false accusation.
Personally, I would have them suffer that very fate. Forget a long incarceration, just a short night (or a few) with "good behavior" inmates running the proverbial train on them. Karmic punishment.
Jail and it put on their record. They should also have to pay at least $30,000 plus all legal costs.

Just think — you falsely accuse an innocent man of rape, and he ends up being executed. Who could live with that kind of guilt? How do you even sleep at night? I guess one day, because of women like this, real victims of rape may no longer be taken seriously.
They should be prosecuted for every law broken plus compensation if the guy was harmed in any way. To hell with what it may cause a true victim. If she gets raped and decides not to report it then it's on her. There is no reason a fiend like that should skate.
