Do you think a woman who falsely accuses a man of rape should get the same punishment as a rapist would get?

So if a woman was caught out in falsely accusing a man of rape, should she get the same punishment as what an actual rapist would get?

Why and why not? I think they should because what if there are some men in prison for being accused of rape when they didn't do anything and they are locked away for being accused. The girl should receive the same punishment so she knows what will happen.

So thoughts, I'm not saying all girls do this but you know some do it either to blackmail the man to get something but he doesn't do it so she does accuse him or punish a man that might of cheated on her or something.

I've been hearing a lot about stories like this. In which 1 or more men are accused of rape with having absolutely no evidence of raping someone and once proven innocent there accuser gets off scott free. Not sure if there have been any cases in which the accuser was punished for falsely accusing someone, and if there has been please tell me so I can look into it. Anyway my main question is. Should the accuser be dealt the same punishment the accused would have had if he was actually guilty.

And what happens if the accusation were later revealed to be true and hidden due to moneys or bribery.

The reason death penalty doesn't exist is there is never 100 percent proof of someone being guilty.

I'm from UK aswell, I'm just stating at the moment of those girls who do lie and try to ruin mens lives. Let's say for instance there was proof the girl was lying, maybe caught on tape saying so or proof cctv proves she or he wasn't there at the time of the incident of what was accused

I do not know about the same...10 years... life... etc. That seems too high BUT there should be some strong penalties... enough to scare off most from openly lying to go after some man she has a beef with.

If it is provable that a woman openly lied about this then the penalties should be stiff.

If it can be proven she did make a false accusion where there was no actual rape involved yes. But not just because the accusations didn't stick. You must be able to report a real rape without fear it will backslash onto you if the evidence doesn't hold up.

Nah, we already have something in place for that. If they accuse you, but you're never arrested or suffer any damage because of it, then simply sue for slander. If they accuse you and you do suffer damage, sue for a frame-up.

I, myself, was accused of a rape that I did not commit. I did not sue. She was young and made a mistake. As serious as it could have been, nothing would actually be accomplished through "eye for an eye." You don't get anything back. I believe it's a waste of time and better to just move on.

Mistake, how can falsely accusing someone of rape be a mistake? What if you were put away for year because of her?

Even if you were cleared of the charges, mud sticks, people would see you that way or be causous of you if they saw you.

Its wrong and they need to be taught a lesson or if they are young like minor then they need some sort of therapy to understand what she did and why she did it so she won't falsely accuse again

You never did something stupid when you were a kid? Us mortals make mistakes and bad decisions. We learn from them and we grow. It's part of life.

I was cleared of charges and there were people who I'm sure to this day still aren't sure. I'm fine with that. It doesn't matter. Certainly not worth hurting the girl's future over. Wouldn't change a single thing for me if I did, anyway. It already happened. It's over. Revenge is a pointless thing.

She did learn and to my knowledge never has accused anyone again. We still talk to each other sometimes. She's recently engaged and doing well.

OK but did she say why she did it in the first place, was she made at you, did she think you did something that she mistakened for rape or didn't she know what rape was or sex

How do you sentence someone based on what the other would get if there has not been a ruling by a judge on what the other would get?


It’d be an incredibly impractical mess based on inconsistency, potentially excessive sentences and sentencing people effectively for a crime of a completely different nature.

It varies I think, some say they should go for the amount of time the man spent in prison, some say however long his sentence was. But if there had been no sentencing I am not sure in that regard, but there should be some punishment for such a psychopathic move.

Sure, there should be a sentence for it and it can be reasonably heavy.

But you can’t punish someone for the number of years that someone would have gotten in a non-existent process.

Like you can create standards for x number of years, softened or lengthened by the damage done, what specific intentions someone has etcetera.

Of course she should, for two reasons. First and foremost, a false rape accusation can destroy a man's life. I have seen in happen personally and in this case the guy ended up committing suicide. He had literally lost everything.

And secondly, women who make false rape accusations undermine the credibility of actual rape victims and make if hard for society to take them seriously.

Rape is horrible and false accusations are horrible.
The selfish that are willing to destroy another should lose everything.

No, because the accusation isn't as severe as the crime itself. But she should absolutely be charged for it. At minimum that's slander.

What if a man spent 10 years in prison before it was proven that she lied? Someone lost 10 years of his life and suffered in prison for 10 years, missing out on his kids growing up and maybe losing his wife and friends. What do you think should happen to her for bearing false witness against him?
