This had nothing to do with political correctness. The PM is typically the leader of the party that wins the majority of constituencies in a general election and is the leader of the party based on their colleagues' choice.

I've way oversimplified this here but it has nothing to do with political correctness or woke.

He's not Indian, he's English. Not ethnically, but culturally- he and his parents were born and raised in the UK. This isn't "political correctness"; this is "the UK putting the horrific racism of the past behind it".

Whether Rishi's tenure as Prime Minister is a good thing, only time will tell, but increased meritocracy certainly is.
