Look I dislike extremism in all forms but I absolutely will not vote for Trump. As a left-leaning (moderate) individual, the right-wing space seems so much more broadly extremist than most of the democratic party. (And yes, I do meet left-ists who go to far for me, I just see it much more commonly from right-wing spaces/communities than left-ists.)

And frankly I do like a lot of the ideals I see coming from the left, even if I disagree with the extent of action. Most of the messages around identity are focused acceptance and multi-cultural communication. I see a lot of policies rooted in empathy and focused on increasing personal autonomy. I also see a lot of social welfare work oriented around giving people what they need to live dignified and safe lives, which is way more difficult and complicated than some seem to think.

So do I believe that white people should grovel before minorities or that elementary age children should be given drugs for gender transitions? No. I think that we should be creating targeted policies to decrease the differences in wealth, prison rates etc between races so that the actions of the past don't harm future generations. I think that that children should be given the space and mentorship they need to explore who they are as people without developing severe dysphoria. They can decide on the drugs and procedures later.

@richardcory haha thanks. I tend to agree on your later statement. I often feel misrepresented as a democrat because some many extreme/dramatic policies always make the news to capture interest, even if they're not ideal solutions to real problems. For example the current political trend in clean energy policy is electrification and solar farms, but if you look at the actual research and talk to professionals, the real way to for create a healthy and sustainable energy grid is to focus on situational diversification to create regionally-efficient systems. It's less attractive to the federal government and major corporations because it requires so much tailoring by location, making the transition process inefficient from a town-down perspective. Same deal with solar panels: we're taking what's often viable farmland or unused green space and replacing it with hard, made-made surfaces with not use other than energy production. One of the best possible places you can put solar panels is actually over parking lots (covering impermeable with more impermeable, providing shade, etc), but because installation and maintenance are slightly more complicated and expensive, it's extremely uncommon.

I have a negative view of people like Pool who trade on their ancient history of being leftist to push right-wing ideas. Greenwald, too. I shouldn't be surprised, it's where the money is.
