😅😵💫😭

I fell for the romance (the narcissist promising of marriage and kids) scam my 1st ex boyfriend played on. I've even send me money that was to work for him to come to my country and we get married. I lost around $1,300 in that scam, lost my years and invested years of my life for nothing. I actually knew him in person long ago.
He stole part of my life. I've never been able to trust people easily ever since. I'm never ever giving anyone (with the exception of my mother and grandmother if needed) money ever again. If a man ever wants money from me again, he would have to be my husband (not boyfriend nor even fiance) and it would depend on the reason. If he got fired for being lazy and coming late, that's his fault. However if his company shut down and he's trying hard to look for jobs, then I can help out.
This is what I've taken as a life lesson and now preach it to other younger women here:
Doing too much for a man and I never got my ring. LOL
Stupid me for falling for that. To other women reading this, never ever give a boyfriend your money, nor ever cook for him nor do wifey things at just the price of an eternal girlfriend he's purposely stringing along, lying to her all long, never wanted marriage but he keeps giving her false hopes. Users.
A. The most I ever "lost" was about $40, on a hobby info "membership" years ago.
B. One time at my bank, someone placed an order for THEM- on MY credit card- that totaled just under my whole credit limit. Since I check my accounts daily, I almost crapped when it dawned on me that what I thought was my remaining credit LIMIT was actually a PURCHASE made by someone else. Ended up at the bank branch in about 5 minutes flat! The branch manager had to go on a three-way call (hot stuff at the time since this was about 15-20 years ago) with their security department and customer service location. Card was killed ASAP (it was a Friday), they messengered me new cards the next day, and sent the whole mess to their investigations unit (so they said). They even let me keep the "points" on the bogus order so we got several free dinners for the inconvenience. (Doubt if I could get service like that today!). No problems after that, though.
2 things
1. when i was about 9 i fell for that BMG 10 albums for 10cents scam. of course what they don't tell you is that you pay an astronomical shipping rate and then are also obligated to buy a certain number of albums. fortunately at 9 you are not able to enter into a contract so I didn't lose anything
2. in college, broke and desperate i received one of those Emails from a Nigerian diamond mine owner. The grift was that my ancestors owned the mine and therefore i was entitled to my share of its value. but it ended as soon as they started saying they needed me to send money to validate an account before they could disburse funds to me. That was the end of that one for me
so ultimately i lost nothing. and in fact in the first instance i received 10 albums for ten cents and never had to fulfill the rest of the obligation so i actually won that one
thanks for MHO
desperate af looking for a roommate.
Sooo this girl said she had a room and it was this much, also the landlord of the place but staying in mexico. Sent the pic with an id in her hand and her father also owned the place but he's gone so she's running the place. the place was real after i looked at the building. And had a realistic contract and shi... so i believed it. As the security deposit, it was $200 now and $500 later when i move in. Also she's never there so I basically get the place to myself.
So i sent $200... and she asked why it took so long. It got there but then something seemed off. The room was clean...too clean. Like never even walked into or dirtied up. So i went there once more and looked inside the place... and i found the manager. Her name or the father didn't exist.
🙃... this bitch was in africa.
Ouch.

I fell for binary options for a while. I initially thought it was a legitimate way to invest and make money, but after about 9 months of taking courses on investing in foreign currency and stocks I figured out that binary was guaranteed to make me lose money consistently. I lost around $1,000. Everyone who is likely still doing it thinking "You only lose because you didn't stick with it". No, the reason you lose in binary is because you are risking more than you are profiting. First rule of investing is risk management and binary options have an automatic failure of risk management.
I was trying to apply for work for home jobs back when Covid was still going on and thought that I was legit going to be hired making over $30 an hour. They said all I needed to do was print out checks in my name and cash them at my bank so that I could get the supplies neccesary for working with them at home. They told me to bitcoin them the money or send it through my bank account. I should have known right there that that was a scam. It was about a good $15000 before the bank caught on. I had no idea at the time. I was thinking that since it was a discover check that it was legit but I was so wrong and stupid. Luckily I ended up not owing my bank due to it being fraud and I just got rid of the bank account. I now know if it's too good to be true then it probably is.
Glad you didn’t have to held accountable for the money lost.
Yes me too. That would have been absolutely devastating as I was out of work at the time and dealing with mental health issues.
If it had been a debit card instead of a credit card you probably wouldn't get it back.
That's true.
I am super super paranoid about things and will get 3rd, 4th, and 5th opinions before I shell out any large sums of money to anyone or website, and even then I always triple check that there is a clear path to getting my money back if things go wrong on paper, and legally traceable otherwise I just don't fork over money...so the only thing I can think of really, and thankfully, is I bought a Versace purse at the thrift that I thought was real, but when I got home, in better lighting, I could see it was missing some detail that gave it away, but even with that, I don't think it was more than $25 (and yes I have found authentic verified Versace at the thrift before).
Sweet that you find good deals. It’s always a risk when buying second hand. I’ve been there too.
about 75,000$ roto rooter came over and took all my things from the cellar CD collection box sets paintings furniture etc... came with a uhaul truck and said they were going to put it in storage... turns out they didn't have a storage service... they said it was destroyed by a water break... but not true at all.
Omg. That’s awful. Did you report it or get your stuff back?
no roto rooter closed the case on me... i did get a police report... maybe i should write to someone else at roto rooter... i get the idea this guy just wanted to get rid of me.
How long ago was this? Is it too late to get a lawyer and sue?
@DubiousIntentions i wouldn't have the money to hire a lawyer... it's reached it's 2nd year recently.
Some lawyers will work for a cut and if you don't win your case you don't have to pay them.
@DubiousIntentions i'd like to have one of those where do i look online
Maybe on your states State Bar Association website?
@DubiousIntentions thank you i'll look there
During a pride parade I was walking to the street when two people in rainbow hats handed me a hundred pound note, what it actually was was a religious panflet about the evils of sodomy. I'm not gsy and I wasn't even going to the pride parade, just the shop. I support I let my boyfriend sodomise me silly
Online dating, in particular a dating site that used paid dating profiles to keep the conversation going.
I thought I was messaging with a woman that´s in to me while I actually wrote with a fake profile.
I lost about 2000 euros over the time span of 1,5 years. That´s nearly a month´s pay check to me.
200 dollars trying to buy black market thc cartridges 😂
It was a good price for like 40 of them so when the dealer never responded I was like
A few on eBay - a Crafter electric mandolin that had an undisclosed cracked neck, a Fender Strat that the seller advertised but shipped a Squier instead, and a few counterfeit items that were advertised as genuine. In each case I was able to get the charges reversed so none that ultimately cost me more than the hassle of making the calls to the credit card companies, but I stopped shopping on that site shortly afterwards.
Yeah. eBay is hit or miss. I rarely order stuff of high value in the site.
@LiamJHayden Usually if you use Paypal it is easier to get your money back.
Sent a bunch of nudes to a prick on here. Said he'd mail a cashiers check. It was a personal check and it's still bouncing! That big titted, baboon ass lipped, walrus looking, land whale SON OF A WHORE!!
Ouch. Yeah. Even here there are scammers. That sucks too.
@slingblade1126 On a site like G@G where anyone can make an account and you have no idea who they really are, these things can happen. That's why they remove all SPAM on here.
Few hits in my early gold buying days but no big money maybe £200 all told
Glad it wasn’t more. 😉
Yeah I learned from each one and still sold some bits like the rolled gold and the Trifari choker so I didn't lose everything
I didn't fall for the skin care scam , i was smart enough to know it's all a scam , even the soaps u use down there to clean it , your vag works so hard to clean itself so why bother ruin it's pH and risk getting bacteria down there
ph is a good thing to maintain down there. I don’t think soap is a scam. Just be conscious of antibacterial stuff. Good hygiene is always important.
yeah "hygiene"
Well it’s important in a relationship for sure 😁
ah my rune scimitar, sold for 4,000 instead of 40,000 because i didn't read carefully the zeros listed, and i was about to go buy a d long and that was the last money i needed. a sad day but i learned my lesson
Don't think I have ever been scammed but my ex thought he won a Nintendo switch and entered in my credit card information onto a website to get it shipped to us 🙃 I lost like $2 so no biggie.
College. The only thing I learned was not relevant to my degree and everything I learned for my degree were things I alreafy knew or could have figured out for myself or by doing a job in the field I want to work for. Now I owe tens of thousands of dollars for something completely pointless because the difference between theory and practice is a lot smaller in theory than it is in practice.
I applied for a job on a reputable site, turns out the job was fake and the scammer just wanted me to do his/her homework as a competency test for hiring.
I lost time and effort for failing to do due diligence checks
Wow! Never heard of that sort of scam.
Celsius network and FTX. I lost more than half of my net worth.
Oh shit. That and FOREX scams. Sadly, I can relate.
At least you have a net worth😅
@Breanna_nonbinary It still hurts to see your hard saved investment fund ripped off.
I don’t doubt you. I’m not making light of your pain, I’m just saying that when you have nothing like me it would nice to have something.
Love. Costed me a lot & I’m not talking money wise. Never again.
Love is a tricky business. Lots at risk but also has a lot of rewards.
Not to brag, but my B. S. radar is pretty strong. My mom was law enforcement so she taught me to ask the right questions when something doesn’t sound right.
Doing Trikafta since it will make me live longer, I wish I hadn't, hopefully I would've been dead by now if I hadn't taken it
cystic fibrosis🫤. so it just didn’t work for you?
I’ve never fell for a scam I’m not stupid enough to, I’m very mindful of anything I get like texts or calls or even emails, if it looks fishy I just delete, report and block.
I feel for a gypsy rose scam. My boyfriend lost £40 for 2 roses. He wasn't best pleased 😂
I still don’t know how I got scammed, but I lost thousands through Uber rides
Like as a driver or a passenger?
I’m assuming passenger
Fake sneaker instagram page. I lost $300. But I got it back from my bank
I have never been scammed, lots have tried it but to no avail.
A fake client got me to send him 4500. That was a tough few months. But I was just at fault for not cya.
I bought protein online and then the company charges us extra. Nothing was delivered. The website was a scam. I hope my dad changed his credit card after.
Never have been scammed, despite receiving numerous IRS and tech support call center scams.
A job scam they called me interviewed me and everything, it was a scam
I don't lose money to scammers, I lose money to lawyers trying to fix the stupid shit I do.
Women. I lost thousands before realizing they ain’t 💩
Marriage
Everything
A bit bitter?
That sounds like bad money management.
Never fell for a scam, nor do I plan to. 😂
Somehow I don’t believe it.
That’s really not my problem. Just food for thought - scammers reside in countries where they communicate in broken English. Why would a German person believe anything coming from there?
Paying taxes.
LOOOOOOTS of money...
I was scammed out of my anal virginity
