Why A Rural County Went To Biden 74% to 26% And It Is The Second Richest County In Washington?

Normally rural counties are more conservative and poorer. Yet San Juan County is the second richest county in Washington by per capita income and only has population of 18,557. 74% of its population voted for Biden in 2020.

I find it interesting because it is breaking every "rule" out there lol

Where I live most of the suburbs voted overwhelmingly for Trump. Most of these towns are fairly affluent and you need to work for a living to be able to afford to live there. The exception is the few suburban towns that the one percenters live in. Most are right on the ocean and the median home price is well over a million dollars. Many of these towns voted for Biden and if you drive through the town you see BLM signs on front lawns and Priuses in the driveway. I suspect it is white guilt. I also suspect that if a bus load of illegal aliens showed up they would be shipped out before you could say "enchilada"

The richest county in deep red Idaho votes for Democrats. I always suspect these rural conservative counties are poorer because they have no great high paying jobs

San Juan county is on the west side of Washington. The west side of Washington is very very blue. The east side of Washington is very very red. I know because I live in the state. So frankly, it doesn’t surprise me that the San Juan islands voted heavily for Joe Biden because again the west side is very very blue and the East side is very very red.

It's an island full of smart wealthy people. Why would you imagine they would vote for a boor like Trump? They hate Trump for the same reason New York City does.

These people are wealthy and do not feel the consequences of Bidens disastrous administration. They can afford private security and if a plane load of illegal aliens show up they can get the National Guard yo come and get rid of them

You're confused, as that is not how it works at all lol. Wealth matters little, it's more about political engagement. Small rich counties tend to have more political donors.
