I can't get the video to play, but I read the article. I didn't see "invade" so much as "direct covert and clandestine operations" coupled with airstrikes. Maybe the video reversed that, and I would not be down with the amateur hour of the national guard moving through baja del sur. We could do this with Mexico's permission. We do that quite frequently elsewhere. The cartel guy we cruise missiled in the 80s that wasn't home... now i can't remember his name. Bought all the rubber bands.

I'm not against sending military into Mexico to wipe out the cartels. But ONLY with the cooperation of the Mexican government. Which means it's not an invasion of Mexico.
I see it basically as a war, not crime fighting. Fuck due process. Go in and wipe them out. But it can only be done with cooperation of the Mexican government.

  There is no due process in killing people in war. There never has been. Yes, there are some ethics and rules of engagement. But if someone is an enemy combatant, there is no trial with lawyers. You just kill them, or whatever it takes to otherwise bring them down.
  
  If this is unwarranted and dangerous, you could say that about the large majority of wars. These cartels are killing large numbers of people. It's not a time to get squeamish.

I think it’s the other way around. I think Mexico wants the land it ceded to the US during the Mexican American War back and they’re doing so by using illegal immigrant occupation, civil unrest and protest/riots.

Something needs to be done. China and the cartels run Mexico. Military action should probably be taken towards the cartels. Too many government programs rely on the drug money though so that isn't going to happen.
