Its going to be difficult to find a jury who haven't made up their minds before the trial starts. Its also clear that half the population is not going to believe the verdict.

Election between an unpopular president and a populist challenger who will be indicted and maybe even convicted of felonies. Near 50/50 split in the public, largely along rural / urban lines.

No clear military aliment. This has the possibility of going extremely badly.

I think you've got things confused here. It was the Republicans who tried to overthrow the election and that is the basis in large part for Trump's latest indictment. The Democrats certainly did not try to do this no matter how you try to spin things.

About seventy Democrats—including the late Rep. John Lewis of Georgia and Rep. Jerry Nadler of New York, refused to attend the inauguration in January 2017, some explicitly citing Trump’s alleged illegitimacy. And yes, some Democratic House members objected to the certification of their states’ votes.

Protestors tried to block check point entrances to the inauguration. Riots took place outside the secured area and near the parade route.

From Reuters: "Multiple vehicles were set on fire, including a black limousine. A knot of people dragged garbage cans into a street a few blocks from the White House and set them ablaze, later throwing a red cap bearing Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan into the flames.

Police said six officers were injured in scuffles with protesters. At one flash point, a protester hurled an object through the passenger window of a police van, which sped away in reverse as demonstrators cheered. Earlier, activists used chunks of pavement and baseball bats to shatter windows of businesses.

The various protest groups scattered around the city chanted anti-Trump slogans and carried signs with slogans including “Trump is not president” and “Make Racists Afraid Again."

Protests also took place across the country.

Democrats and the media conveniently forget about the opposition to the 2016 election and the violence that ensued. The amount of violence was far greater than what occurred during the so called "insurrection".

The reason for separate indictments could be that some or all have already pleaded guilty and will be cooperating witnesses against Trump, or just to avoid delays in getting to trial. Especially when Trump's whole approach to the law is to delay it until justice is denied. Everybody should be hoping for an early trial, so that Trump can run for president without unproven charges hanging over his head.
