Donald Trump indicted, people briefed on the matter say, making him the first ex-president charged with a crime. This was in connection with the hush money he paid to a prostitute, apparently
442 opinions shared on Trending & News topic. My thoughts are that we let the criminal justice system do its job.
He's presumed innocent until proven guilty.
At this point, we don't even know what the official charges are until his arraignment at the New York County (*) Supreme Courthouse in downtown Manhattan. (You see this building often during exterior shots during the 2nd half of episodes of "Law & Order".
New York County Supreme Courthouse Notice the inscription:
THE TRUE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IS THE FIRMEST PILLAR OF GOVERNMENT
Trump's alleged crimes occurred before his term as President, so let's hope that inscription remains true.
(*) New York State has 62 counties. Each of New York City's 5 boroughs is also a county of New York State. Manhattan is New York County.

Being charged doesn't mean your guilty of anything. We live in the US, innocent until proven guilty.
235 Reply- +1 y
Yup, and since none of us knows the full list of charges, and evidence that was looked at. There isn't too much more we can really say than what you just said.
At this point they are claiming after the investigation they feel it is enough evidence to go to trial, now once the trial takes place we can really make a decision as to if this was a legit case or not - +1 y
He does poorly in the polls when his name is in the media lol. Past 2 elections prove that.
- +1 y
Okay lol.
- +1 y
Lol speaking from ignorance. He’s being investigated for so much more than just this. This is only the beginning.

Everyone in America saw the insurrection on TV, waiving his flag on the steps, and it took him how long to address the mob too. We are all witnesses. Whether he guilty or not that doesn’t change what we all witnessed. Meanwhile Trump thinks it’s fine to mishandle top secret documents jeopardizing sensitive information about our country, and he made serious efforts in overturning an election he legitimately lost.
Sounds like you just want to support a nut job criminal whether he’s guilty or not. - +1 y
@snowboarder720 you are brainwashed by the media and have communist views and calling someone a criminal is defamation because ge hasn't even been prosecuted. If you like to see people shamed and arrested without due process go move to China, where they allow you to arrest people and just say their criminals without a case or any human rights to defend themselves.
Why do you continue to live in a country you know hates communism but you keep trying to portray your hippie communist views hmmm? Get a flight and go go China or North Korea they operate the way you see the world. - +1 y
@msc545 LE and the ASA prosecutor's can put I did 101 things of they can't prove it in the court of law it means nothing. Jesus how are most of you people even American? You jump for joy before a case has happen. You will just say "YEAAAAAAH HE'S ARRESTED HE'S GUILTY" you can speculate all you want but it doesn't mean anything. Speculation & theory doesn't work in the courts snd can and will be thrown out. Literally if you want someone to be be guilty without due process. China or North Korea is where tou should go.
- +1 y
What will be thrown out?
- +1 y
Well they have evidence I’m sure.
- +1 y
well no one really knows if he's guilty yet. we're going to see how this plays out.

Fuentes couldn’t tell what’s communism if it stood in front of him. Meanwhile you want to support a nut job who is accused of 33 FELONIES. Deflection much? If you want to support a president who is a criminal go move to Russia. He’s was butt hurt that Trump didn’t win either, they were romance partners along with North Korea president too.

Trump and Epstein were best friends, that’s why they both raped a 14 year old girl.

Also Trump flew multiple times on Epstein’s private jets. Now hems being charged with only but 33 felonies but you’d still get on your knees for him 😆🤣

@snowboarder720 do know the definition of what the word "accused" means? So if I accuse you of 33 felonies does it mean it's true hahahahahahhahahaha. You need help isn't China everything your telling me is speculation because you can't prove any of it. Until the hearings start and we find out what's true and. Not true & what's thrown out and what's kept in the case.
If you like people just being prosecuted just cause you hate them go to China or North Korea or Iran. It happens there all the time. - +1 y
@slatyb you need to move to China, they have to prove all the facts they think are facts are actual fact. Thank goodness this isn't a Communist country where people like you think someone is guilty because of what the DA and investigators put out to make the case and you have no idea what is fact and what is not yet because that part of the case has not been presented yet. So hold your horses buddy and watch and then we will see if he will be found guilty or not if the DA isn't forced to throw the case out. Which happens slot during trials. But due yourself a favor and pack your bags and move to China since you love yo persecute others before a court of law, only that is aloud there.

Hmm, I think when the Hunter Biden laptop story broke that was a surprise, because it's very much at odds with the image that Biden has built up in senate and during his election.
Trump already had a scandal with sex, and hush money. This does zero to damage his image as it is already part of his image. It would be like "breaking news, Ron DeSantis fires all his diversity hires" or something like that. If someone breaks the law, but it fits in with their past actions, current actions, and likely future actions, it will likely boost their brand rather than tarnish it.
I would not be surprised at all if regardless of the outcome of the trial more women come out who have been paid hush money and signed NDAs, Trump counter sues and the momentum causes him to surpass DeSantis in the primaries. Which, honestly I don't like because I think DeSantis is a stronger candidate for the job in every way. He's smarter, less tainted, has actual policies rather than simply goals, man, I could go on and on, you get the idea.11 Reply- +1 y
@FunkyMonkee Well, yeah, it breaks the pattern. The pattern should be make promises, get elected, give kickbacks. Not make promises, try to fulfill them, don't give kickbacks. He'd have been golden if he wouldn't have publicly said during the election and after that the kickback spiderweb system was the swamp and what not, more so that besides not playing that game he was fighting it.
Still, I think he's too tainted. No matter if he wins or loses, it'll be near impossible for him to get anything accomplished, with the never and forever trump attitude becoming more crystallized and insane. DeSantis is a better choice, have Trump run again after another Republican.
+1 yPretty wild, but I don’t expect a ton to come of this. But I think it does break the seal for other jurisdictions to go ahead and indict him. This feels like a soft opening for a bigger charge coming down elsewhere, between the Georgia election phone call, the mishandling and (more importantly) obstruction with the classified documents, fallout from Jan. 6th, etc. I still feel like he somehow won’t spend a day in prison for any of it, despite being likely guilty of much or all of it, but to me, it’s more important for this guy to just have his pants pulled down in front of the country, and hopefully people will start leaving spilled cups of orange Kool-Aid strewn about on the ground and be shaken out of their Trump Trance, hopefully start dealing in reality again.
36 Reply- +1 y
@FunkyMonkee So you’re saying that if Joe Biden had made that same phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State and you had a voice recording of him saying “Brad, I just need to find 11,780 votes! C’mon, man!”, the Republicans wouldn’t be absolutely losing their minds over it?
Trump is innocent until proven guilty, but I have my suppositions. Once the case is in the hands of a jury of his peers, though, it can no longer be claimed to be a political witch hunt. If the truth sets him free, so be it. If he skates on a technicality, we’ll all still know it. If he’s found guilty, he just has to wear that. We’ll see how it all shakes out, with this case, and the other ones that are likely coming. - +1 y
@FunkyMonkee Unless you were talking specifically about the Stormy Daniels case, in which case it would just seem logical to me that Michael Cohen wasn’t just making these payments without Trump’s knowledge, and even more likely, at his direction. The affair with Daniels may be real, it may be made up and Trump was paying to quell the disturbance at a critical time. If you tell me Stormy Daniels is a hustler, it wouldn’t shock me. But the criminal issue, I believe (the charges aren’t even announced yet), is about how the funds were reported or where they came from…. I’m not even totally sure, I just know it’s financial crime, not a sex crime or an issue of morals. I need more details before I can really speak well on it.
- +1 y
In case you haven't noticed, because CNN refuses to tell you, we DID lose our minds over Joe's cheating in the election!!
They haven't got a dick to stand on!! - +1 y
There IS NO crime!!
- +1 y
@FunkyMonkee you’re trying to slip the question. Don’t do that. I understand that you’ve been convinced of unfounded claims and believe the election was stolen. We don’t even have to argue that for this. I’m asking you SPECIFICALLY what your feelings would be if Joe Biden had made the exact same phone call with the exact same language with the exact same intent.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yHe likely won’t serve time for this. Falsifying business records is a misdemeanor in New York. They could elevate it to a felony if they tie it to the campaign finance violation that his attorney was convicted of but none of that is overly serious. But if you commit a crime, even a petty one, you can’t complain about consequences. Now the looming indictments in Georgia are a whole different ball game. Those crimes could land him in prison for years and, at his age, could be a de facto life sentence. The special counsel investigation is another wildcard. He could see federal charges there as well. Stay tuned. NY is probably just the beginning of the end for Donald Trump……. but he brought it on himself. You can’t attack the establishment, then commit multiple crimes and expect the establishment to protect you. He acted stupidly from day one.
Opinion Owner+1 yOf course he did. He falsified business records to hide the hush money payments. That’s illegal and you can bet they already have the records to prove it. It’s also a federal crime to not report money spent to benefit your campaign. The second crime elevates the first to a felony. It’s not that he didn’t do anything, you just don’t want him held accountable.
- +1 y
@FunkyMonkee You mad?
Opinion Owner+1 y@FunkyMonkee The statute of limitations has not run out. Under NY law the clock stops when you’re physically living out of state, which he has been since 2016. Try to at least know what you’re talking about. Daniel’s initially denied the affair because she thought she was bound by the non-disclosure agreement. When that was found invalid because Trump stupidly signed a fictional name to it, she was free to tell the truth. Common sense says you don’t pay someone $130,000 and have them sign an NDA if nothing happened. The affair is irrelevant anyway. That’s not the crime. He falsified business records. It also doesn’t matter what Biden/Bush/Clinton did or didn’t do. They aren’t relevant to Trump’s case. A jury will weigh the evidence.
Opinion Owner+1 y@FunkyMonkee Yes you are wasting your time. A grand jury believed crimes were committed and a Manhattan jury will decide guilt. That’s how these things are decided, not by loudly screaming what you heard on Fox News.
- +1 y
Well said.
- +1 y
So, what's a grand jury compared to several hundred thousand lawyers and judges?
Opinion Owner+1 y@FunkyMonkee Oh you’ve consulted with hundreds of thousands of lawyers and judges to get their opinion? Why not a million? No you’ve seen a few right wing talking heads on TV. Since little evidence has been made public and there are allegedly 30 counts to this indictment, which have yet to be revealed, Fox News just might be wrong. A jury will decide.

+1 yThe indictment by the NY Grand Jury is sealed so we don't know what the charge is or whether there are multiple charges. It could be a misdemeanor or a minor felony. We won't know that until he is arrested and booked. It seems that he will turn himself in sometime next week (w/o 2-Apr-2023).
This will probably affect the 2024 election. His supporters won't be affected but Independents and Democrats who might otherwise consider voting for him may have second thoughts.
I personally doubt he will ever serve jail time. His attorneys will draw things out so long that the case will eventually be dismissed.

@slatyb well, no. Trump also cheated at Golf, fucked hookers, bribed hookers, LIED A LOT, yelled, bragged, spent money that wasn't his, hid secret documents and lied about having them, started a riot, threatened election officials who could or would not find votes he needed, lost an election and wouldn't admit it, and so many other things... all bad.|
He was a busy guy - just with all the wrong stuff. He may get a very long rest fairly soon, courtesy of the government.
+1 yIf he is guilty, then he should be punished. However, it is very troubling that many politicians of the opposition party have done the same thing and were not charged. Hillary Clinton and Obama had to pay fines but that was all. This prosecutor actually campaigned on the promice that he would find something on Trump. He used his office to look for anything to charge Trump with. Meanwhile, he reduced over half of the felony cases he worked on to misdemeanors and let murders and rapists go free. Now, Trump must face a judge who definitely has animosity towards him. This is not how a free country works. Yesterday, the president of Zimbabwe, a poor African nation with a history of election problems, criticized the American political system. You won't find many foreign countries who think that the USA has a honest election system. Personally, I think eventually they will become a 1-party socialist nation like North Korea. It seems to be heading that way.

Trying to imprison him for whatever they can imprison him for because they think it’ll hurt his chances of winning in 2024. Personally I couldn’t care less whether Trump can or can’t run in 2024. Don’t get me wrong though if he does and he becomes nominee he will 110% have my vote. But honestly I’d prefer DeSantis because the left has made Trump far too divisive. Do the Dems really think they can find a women or poc who can beat DeSantis? I mean, hell, even Trump beat Hillary. I bet he could do it again.

+1 yIt's apparently either not really related to the "hush money" incident, or it's only a small part since there are nearly 3 dozen charges in total and most seem to be business related.
What I think will happen is the trial ends up dragging out well into election season past primaries where he will likely lose because of the ongoing trial being a problem, then after either has charges dropped or is convicted for fines to the tune of millions of dollars but of course, is only a fraction of his wealth. I doubt they'd put him in-prison because people of his status and walth never get put in prison, only fined.00 Reply
+1 yReally a misdemeanor under New York law, and since it occurred in 2016 and Trump's official residence was New York till September 2019, likely out of statute. That is why the DA had to do contortions to make it a felony. With the alleged escalating second crime an alleged federal offense that was never charged, it seems possible if not probable that this does really fit NY law and gets dismissed by the judge. If it does go to trial, MichaeI Cohen is a walking textbook example of reasonable doubt.
01 ReplyI think the NY DA Alvin Bragg has only indicted Trump for Woke brownie points who ran for office on a pledge to indict the former president.,
Trump's then-personal attorney Michael Cohen has already stated that he personally paid off Stormy Daniels and that nothing illegal took place and Trump knew nothing about the pay off.
Getting this into court maybe a mistake by the NY DA Alvin Bragg as he will have no idea what kind of evidence Trumps lawyer Joe Tacopina will present, or if the case will even make it through discovery.10 Reply

look. i'm not a Trump fan boy at all. i just think that the media is desperately trying to throw every shit at him in hopes that "something" will stick. meanwhile presidents like bush who has commited blatand war crimes with straight up lies isn't charged with anything. and the obvious corruption between Biden, his son and Ukraine is just swept under the rug.

i was talking about the tax evasion that was not true. i don't exactly know the date that the court announced him not to be guilty but you're as good at googling as i am if you care. and the wild claims about racism and sexism some media outleds made were never even brought to court. just media slandering. and the ones about election fraud were also not true. oh and the one about him inciting violence being accountable for the storming of the capitol. that one was also not true.
