I don’t care too much about this particular case, but I think it was an important precedent to set that you don’t avoid accountability just because you used to be the president. As much as you shouldn’t be gone after solely because of politics, you shouldn’t have immunity solely because of politics either.
As far as setting a national precedent goes, I’m much more interested in an example being made of Trump in Georgia and by the DoJ for the way he obstructed the collection of the classified documents. Go after Biden and Pence and whoever else too, if they’ve done any wrong, but none of those guys fucked around the way Trump did. January 6th, as obvious as it is that he stoked it, I don’t know if they can legally pin it on him or not, there’s a lot of info we haven’t heard, so I can’t say. But those three things: repeated obstruction with classified document retrieval, attempts to influence or tamper with the election process, and lying to people about the election being stolen to the point where they think they live in an occupied country and a patriotic revolt is required…. those are the things that I’d really like to send a message to the American people that you absolutely, positively, CANNOT fucking do that shit.
Have to see the charges, but seems all about political assassination... and "sex" crimes are the proven way to discredit someone. I suspect this makes him more determined and I can only hope he wins next time around, and is no longer "nice" to these people. He really was too nice, just harsh verbally.
I'd like to see a different society with honesty and admissions, Clinton set it on a wrong path and I'm sure others before him. Lying and hiding is how such people behave rather than admit fault. Society can evolve. Ex. "yes I had an affair, It was a mistake, I paid her to not damage my reputation, bad plan. There's a saying about a "woman scorned"." Then hand him an appropriate fine and fees, apologies, and move on. I don't see jail for that "minor" of an issue. If he was a politician at the time, different story.

Here's my line on the indictment. The "First" ex president line is ludicrous. How many ex presidents have done illegal things before they were in office, during and after they were in office? I bet there are dozens. They simply WERE NOT CAUGHT. Nixon wasn't impeached because he resigned. I bet if someone did a research article on presidential illegalities, the list would be endless.
What's going to happen? Who knows. Someone better have loads of unimpeachable, excuse the pun, evidence. If not, he'll be smiling all the way to Mar a Lago and screaming how he was innocent and it's partisan politics, political ploy. It's a waste of time unless there's strong evidence and serious chance of conviction. Otherwise, it's a waste of time and energy.
Yes, indict him, prosecute him, convict him, lock him in prison and throw away the key. And then do the exact same thing to any other politicians who think they can get away with doing whatever the fuck they want.

This particular indictment is actually laughable. Out-of-statute as a misdemeanor, so the DA had to use something the Federal Election Commission under Biden dropped as not being a crime as the second required crime, in order to create a felony. Also, in every other use of the elevating statute, the "second" crime was under New York law and chargeable as such, not something under federal jurisdiction. All this from a DA who habitually lowers violent felonies into misdemeanors. It stinks of a politically motivated prosecution and probably helps Trump. Even Andrew Cuomo, who hates Trump, called it for what it is.
It's part of the Get Trump Soros funded mob. Beria was right. Give me the man and I will give you the crime. You could indict a ham sandwich when there are no opposing witnesses. If the trial were to be in any other than a democrat controlled city, it would at least be just.
I'm just here to point out that Trump was a Democrat when he supposedly had that fling. Then a full twelve years later, after he became a Republican, suddenly it became an issue. Funny how that works.

It's a victimless crime, but at least it's the beginning of accountability. I expect the dam to break on a flood of litigation now, including election interference, inciting insurrection and witness tampering, to name a few.
He has already said that Republicans plan to use ballot harvesting, mail in ballots , and all the other ways the election was stolen in 2020. He is ahead in all the polls, nobody wants to see Biden run again and lets face it, this country is falling apart under Biden's lack of leadership and in another year it will be even worse.. Many Americans are witching this and see the free election process get decimated by the democrats and will vote against them.
