What is it that every area of your life is up for scrutiny?

I think it's several things. Social media and platforms like this unfortunately. This is why.

On social media we post things and people respond. Partly because people more than ever are sharing opinions when no one asked for it because too many believe their opinions and speech must be told and unchallenged honestly.

There's this belief now that didn't exist when I was a kid. The belief that if I believe you're living your life wrong, you deserve to hear it, be shamed, and depending on the situation, have no rights.

There's a conflict that is causing some people to believe their way of life needs to be the only way. Whether it be due to their religion, which they feel is being attacked, just by others choosing not to believe or follow their rules.

So the people that are not being persecuted for their religion feel like you just being in public looking, acting, and expressing yourself differently makes them persecuted just by having to witness you. Their fear of difference and their lack of regard for the first amendment makes them scared. And their fear, being they are in the majority, makes them powerful and able to scrutinize the minority. They don't like status quo being challenged. Hence the conserve part in conservative.

Then you have the other group over compensating out of pure frustration because they're outnumbered heavily and are fighting for a space in society to just be accepted. Accepted meaning to be acknowledged for existing and not treated like animals. So to do that they get loud and are arguing for this right to exist and that means everyone is arguing with everyone all of the time.

In closing (lol) I think this would happen less if we minded our own business more, stopped using social media as a way to spread your anger towards politics or people different than you, and start talking about the weather more instead of topics that need to just be agreed to disagree with civility.
