Yes, one day I was out in the bay in my motorboat ands all of a sudden a fogbank rolled in. I could not see more than 29 feet in any direction. I did not know if I was heading towards shore or out in the open ocean. Somehow I wound up about 5 or 6 miles up the coast.

Not in the ocean, but in the sky jumping out of a plane at 30k feet I had a very similar feeling. It is peaceful. Especially when you have a pretty cloud cover below you and you can think about where you want to punch through.

No. I'm American but my ancestors are jamaican decent, and we believe in respecting the see and what lives in it, so we avoid the ocean, because there's too many threats lurking underneath

Yes, when we were out at sea on a raft and looked back at the mother ship and saw how it was being tossed around like a cork on the waves. a ship so massive that it looked like a little toy. The next day we did an exercise of locking out of a submarine escape hatch at periscope depth and while we were outside of the submarine (about 60 miles off the coast) I remembered that the depth was over 1,000’.

it was a sobering realization of how small we are.

I love the ocean and I don't fear it much. I'm a Rescue Scuba Diver, free diver and I snorkel. Much of my childhood was swimming in the ocean farther out than most would swim. There would be baby sharks all around me. I'm obsessed with sharks. I tell people that a couple must have urinated on me to mark their territory.
