Why are most people so mean and brutal to fat people?

So I’m in college working on my nursing degree and I’m currently a nurse intern and this one girl (let’s call her Kathryn) seems very uncomfortable with me. She gives me dirty looks, and insults my body and always brags how healthy and fit she is.

I’ve never been thin or that “pretty girl” guys flock over. I was always overweight, and chubby. I’ve always been jealous of fit and thin women because they always get dates and the fat ones never do. Friday Kathryn yelled at me for bumping into things accidentally and knocking things over. I apologized and she bluntly said, “You know, if your fat ass would just lose some damn weight, all this would have been avoided. Eww.” People stated at me.
Then she told me, “What man would want a fat ass? Face the facts, no man is going to want you.”
My coworker (let’s can her Hannah) lashed lashed out, “Kathryn!” And Kathryn said, “Well no offense. I’m just stating the facts. Men want a healthy looking woman, not a fat useless slob.” Kathryn DESPISES me. I’ve been bullied for my size all my life, plus 5’6”. My thin friends always got guys.

They typically consider fat people lazy (not even realizing that you could have a medical problem like pcos). And that's how deep people think generally. But in her mind she probably thinks you stuff your face with Krispy Kreme all day. And it makes her mad because she wants to do that but she's obsessed with staying skinny. Because in her mind that's most of her value so she has maintain that. Meanwhile in her mind you're skiing over there taking the easy way out. And that's why she hates you.

People are goofy. No sense worrying about. Haters gonna hate. So just let em hate. And make fun of how her finger smells like vomit.😆

@warren_zevon Telling someone they should have self-respect and pursue a healthier lifestyle is the opposite of abuse. Abuse is being a fat fuck or encouraging people to be fat fucks out of some misplaced sense of politeness.

Your problem is that you place too high a premium on the opinions of others. "Kathryn" is a bitch, that much is obvious to anyone. The only thing that matters is your own sense of self-respect. Your obesity, jealousy, and self-image of yourself as a victim are manifestations of your own lack of self-respect.
Like your parents have told you, you need to stop whining and making excuses and learn to love yourself enough to get into better shape. Becoming physically fit will improve your mental health and fix your image issues. Fixing your image issues will encourage you to continue improving your level of fitness. Just start small and keep at it.

They don't. In the case of Kathryn you are making her insecure. Becasue you have tits and she doesn't. You have personality, and she doesn't. Or you actually get attention and she doesn't.

You should either report her for bullying or hit her back with insults like "with your lack of tit's, you might as well be a man. Or "real men don't like gym rats like you" Or "get a personality, you can't borrow mine with your trash talk". etc etc.

Hit her back in her insecurities. It's probably not your thing at this age, and don't go shooting up the school or anything so American. But realise that if you don't do something to stop it, you're going to be a victim to it all your life.

The things this woman has said are inappropriate in the workplace.

Go to HR and file a complaint, make note of the witnesses mentioned.

At minimum she should get a talking to. And it will be documented.

You do not have to change who you are to be treated decently in society. Anyone posting here that claims otherwise is stuck in the 60s

I know that’s how the world works but I’ve been hurt and bullied all my life. Even my own parents said I need to stop making excuses and start eating right. Don’t expect people to feel sorry for me. I don’t it’s just that I’m tired of being bullied for my size.
