What are they afraid of? The Boogeyman? There are 200 languages spoken in California.

Which language should go on the stop sign? Should we flip a coin? Should we make the sign big enough to fit all 200 languages on it?

There are 302 living languages spoken in China, but the official language is Mandarin.

There are 72 languages spoken in Ireland, but they have only declared two official languages. Irish and English

There are over 30 languages spoken in Germany, but the official language is German.

There are over 14 indigenous languages in England, but the official language is English.

So why are so many Americans terrified of declaring an official language?

There are so many illegal aliens that do not speak a word of English and have no interest in learning it. The welfare offices have printed instructions in many languages and interpreters to help them file for benefits. Gutless politicians do not wamt to piss any of the m off.

I don't understand how they think. We all know that English is by far the dominant language spoken in America, and that didn't seem to deter the 5 million illegals. So we should just take it a step further and declare English as the official language.

It's only a matter of time before whites become the minority in America. And when that happens, I can totally see Spanish becoming the first official language in America. 60% of the people in Miami speak Spanish. And they won't worry about alienating the people who speak the other 199 languages in America.

Yes, English should remain the official language of the U. S. But other's shouldn't be banned or anything. If immigrants and native Americans want to speak their native language, that's great. And being bilingual or multilingual is admirable. It should be encouraged.

According to USA. gov, "The United States does not have an official language, but some states list English as their official language.

"Although the most commonly used language is English, people in the U. S. speak or sign more than 350 languages. Some individual states list English as their official language."

I'll say that, if we have an official language, it should be English.

Key word, "DEBATE"

Anyone who knows debate knows when you don't like the question or the question is damaging to your position. Then you don't answer the question. You answer the question they asker should have asked instead. Yes, if you do this too much it'll make you look unable to answer questions. But if you do it skillfully enough you can make the asker look like they posed a silly question.

Most countries have more than one language. There's really no reason for the United States to be any different in this fact. But no I don't have a problem with calling English the official (primary) language of the country. But my guess most people who speak other languages are disproportionately Democrat. So it makes sense why the democrats would not want to push this stance. Whether it be good for the country or not.

I have traveled to about 70 countries in the world, the majority of them, English is the second or primary language on signs, documents, passport control, roadways, train stations, etc. This includes countries that hate americans. So yeah we can stick with English as the universal language, but certainly fun and great to have the other ones.
