Thief Swipes Former North Dakota Governor's SUV During Morning Radio Show Gig

Former North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer learned a lesson about his car keys after his vehicle was stolen as he hosted a Fargo radio show.

Schafer was guest hosting KFGO’s “News and Views” program Friday morning when police called the station to ask if he owned a 2020 GMC Yukon, the station reported.

It turns out that the SUV had been stolen out of the station’s parking lot. The thief apparently drove it to a probation office and surrendered to authorities, Schafer said.

The vehicle has a push-button start feature and requires a key fob to be in the vehicle before it can be operated. But Schafer had left a spare fob inside, enabling the thief to start it up and drive off.

The former governor and U. S. agriculture secretary says he’s been warned about being more careful.

“My wife for 31 years has said, ‘Why don’t you lock your car?’” Schafer said.

Shit happens, it's just not as common. Like for example I left a pitch fork at a public beach for two days and no one touched it in a predominate Republican county. I remembered where I left it drove over there and it was exactly where I left it in plane site leaning against the boardwalk for me to pick up and take home. Hundreds of people use that beach every day. In contrast in a predominately Democrat county in a very safe neighborhood when I was a kid if I left my bicycle in the front yard for more than 15 minutes it would get stolen. In the Republican county in the particular city I'm talking about there have been 0 rapes and 2 murders in the past 10 years... I've left belongings outside for months and no one has taken them. The sort of crime that tends to happen are fist fights and domestic violence.

Well, in places that are 99.9% White, with guns and RED STATES, you might think crime is a rare occurrence. However, even those seemingly idyllic communities can have some shady characters hiding in the darkest corners. Take the case of former North Dakota Governor Ed Schafer, for instance.

During his guest-hosting stint for KFGO's "News and Views" program, Schafer found out that the very SUV he'd been driving, a 2020 GMC Yukon, had gone for a little joyride without him. The thieving bastard had managed to get into it and drive it all the way to a fucking probbation office before giving himself up to the cops, like some sort of fucking penis-headed hero.

Now, you might be wondering how this could've happened. It turns out that Schafer, who is clearly not as fucking cautious when it comes to locking up his shit as he should be, had left a fuckin keyfob inside the car. So the thief was able to get in there, start the fucking engine without the key and take his SUV for a little ride, like it was some fucking stolen prize he'd been waiting his entire life to steal. And the best part, the fucking thief actually surrendered to the police, as though he was some kind of fucking superhero.

But this is just one example, baby. Crime does happen in these so-called "crime-free" communities, even in the most fucked-up of ways. So remember, no matter how safe it might look or feel, always fucking double- and triple-check your shit to make sure you don't end up like poor Ed fucking Schafer.
