The Danish government is speaking about tax breaks - how we can afford to have welfare and at the same time find the money for tax breaks so it becomes more attractive to work full time.

I (&many others) are against this, we find it idiotic and it pains us. They say that we've good enough economy for both welfare and tax breaks and I say bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, we can not afford both.

I don't support tax breaks unless they're accompanied by massive increases in wealthy and corporate tax hikes and crackdowns on tax evasion.

Tax breaks for everyone earning <$100k (progressive taxation after that is good).

Then, actually tax the wealthy and the corporations and use a fraction of those funds to continue funding welfare.

Tax the rich. If the poor can pay taxes and afford to live, so can the rich. They can learn to budget and then pull themselves up by their bootstraps if they're worried they can't afford it.

The working force will be benefitting from those tax breaks, or those with a full time job - those who won't benefit from it would be indivuals like the children I work with & other children and adults with disabilities, our elderly, our mentally ill. People who won't be able to just pull themselves up by their bootstraps no matter what happens.

I do agree, heavier taxation on the wealthy and I don't mind paying as high taxes as I do, or I wouldn't if it actually went to welfare.

"Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" is an incomplete quote. It's actually a quote from 1834 to point out a fool who thought he had discovered perpetual motion.

It is physically impossible to pull yourself up by your bootstraps. It is a saying meant to illustrate that it's impossible.

People don't get motivation by punishment.

You have bought into American capitalist rhetoric and you're actively making your own life worse by buying into it.

Look into UBI studies and the results of it. You'll find most people will work harder to make their lives better if given the resources.

There is plenty of fraud and waste withing the welfare system and government in general. A tax break and more efficient government would serve the citizens.

I 100% support tax breaks. the second you say "how can we afford this?" means it's time to cut government spending.

Goodness, we've cut enough government spending as it is here. I'm tired of hearing "we've to work more for less" - at my work place because the government keeps on removing funds from the social sector. Heck, we had our first mass shooter this year - due to removal of funds within mental health.

I doubt your government has cut enough. By it's nature bureaucracy is inefficient when there's no shareholders to account to.

No, they're not. It ain't bureaucracy's my government is cutting in, they're good at adding it in. Making people within the system in worse circumstances than they need to be in - with less care. & is making people run away from working within the system. And we need people working in the system.
