Why do some people don't learn the language of the country they immigrated to?

Firstly your question title is woefully grammatically correct. I don't know if English is your first language, but it shows that learning a language isn't easy.

Most people who come here pick up the basics pretty quickly but it takes year's to get up to conversation speed and understand different dialects. It can be difficult to make that jump from practicing in a lesson to trying it in the real world.

I dont know. They should. Its obligated in most countries. And it makes sense. It doesn't mean they shouldn't know or shouldn't speak their mother tongue but they need to know the language of the country they are in. I'm swedish if I move to US i need to speak English I won't assume people understand me speaking Swedish.

This has been a big problem in the United States for a long time now. Historically there has been an expectation that immigrants will assimilate. To a large extent that's not the case anymore. I think it should be a requirement that immigrants be fluent in English before they're allowed into our country.

I live in the USA, I know tons of Spanish speaking people who've lived here for a few years... who still can't speak English.

I can't even imagine living in another country and not making the language one of my top priorities.

many countries do have more than one language in use... especially down to certain regions

Some people are set in their ways. They find it difficult to learn a new language. Especially if they are surrounded by people who speak their own language. It’s almost unnecessary to learn that specific language.
