Why do Mexicans or Hispanics usually expect almost everyone to know there language?

I am Ukrainian and we don’t do that where we expect everyone to know the language or even at work if you have a good community of Hispanics they all will speak Spanish a lot or expect many to know it

I never encountered that in the U. S. I have encountered people who spoke little English but they didn't expect me to know Spanish. I wish I did.
Most people in this country can speak English even if Spanish is their first language.

When speaking to people from other countries, I find that if I try to communicate in their language, they appreciate it. And when they see how bad I am, they try to speak to me in English without being embarrassed about their lack of fluency. Then we get along great.
That happened to me when traveling in France, Germany and Mexico.

I think this is just YOUR experience. I think most Hispanic people are here to work and it's not that the expect people to know their language. I think they just don't have a lot of intent on staying here permanent so they're goal is not assimilation.

I used to work a convenience store when I was young and this was during the war in the Balkans. We had a lot of Bosnian refugees that would come by every weekend because we had soccer fields near the store. They used to buy up all ourcheap cigarettes and cheap beer.😆 Most of them spoke very little English to. And since there were so many of them if you didn't know where you were you might have mistaken for being in Bosnia.🤣 The vast majority of them were friendly people. I'm sure if they had their choice they'd have been back home.

For the most part, Hispanics in the US have a working knowledge of English. Same as you, they get by.

I got stopped one twice at a woman’s restroom there where few Mexican woman cleaning restroom and one of them starts speaking to me in Spanish than other incident was when I was going to a gas station and a group of Mexican man stop and start talking in Spanish I said I don’t speak it And he looked confused and asked where I’m from

Don't worry about Hispanics' expecting everyone to learn Spanish;you concentrate on proper grammar !!!
