What do British people think of Americans? And vice versa?

I constantly hear how much one or the other dislikes each other. I'm just curious as to why. Personally I feel they are the most similar in countries other than Canada. What are your guys thoughts?

Most Americans I meet are tourists and in the short convos we have seem normal enough. If it weren't for the awful accents you'd never know.

However, based on online observations, I think you're all to obsessed with politics. Everything is labelled a right or left wing and for Americans that's all that matters. I think the concept if an American expresses one view you automatically all his other holds true.

Another difference is while Brits might get slightly miffed over something trivial Americans seem to get aggressively totally opposed to the point it consumes their lives.

American accents are "jarring" to British, most of British people lump American people into being uneducated, uncultured, and cult like.

Some American people are, but most aren't. I think online inflames that ideology.

Really cool and tough guys!!!

Yeah we did some training and stuff together with them
Their special force SAS guys taught us a lot of things and our Navy Seals taught them a lot of things and we non special force guys learned from them both
We got along really well!!

when I was a child , I felt sad for Rambo in the movie First Blood after seeing what all he went through and how civilians treated him
I never imagined I would be able to kind of relate to him one day
But sweet words from one good citizen like you is enough to ignore a 1000 hurtful ones

I think Americans are a product of American society, in the same way that we are all products of the society we live in. American society is very insular, most Americans are poorly educated and even most of those who had a good education are unaware of the world outside of America. It's hard to even think of America as a nation when you are all hating on one another.

Yes, that is a stigma I hear often. Although it is true for most here, some of us aren't. We take time to culture ourselves and distance ourselves from all right/left propaganda.
