Things back then were made a lot better than they are now. Hell, I just looked at a house that had an oil furnace made in the 50's like it was just made yesterday. And OMG how about those mantel clocks that take a nuking and keep on ticking.
I'd like to see some of these cheap Chinese crap they make today survive nuclear explosions - you know those kind that turn coconuts and titties into little flaming sputniks – a nuclear explosion is said to create a temperature of around 40,000°C , an immense amount of pressure and a light blast that travels up to tens of kilometers making everything into dust.
But these 50s cameras are survivors, like milk monsters that could still shoot milk out of their chesticles when shot countless times. But to think then about the film industry could potentially survive this kind of disaster and record it too, now that's almost more impressive than Judy Garland's bazookas.

@boobslayer. All true. Building materials and craftsmanship were much better than today, no question.
No, It was all fake. They hired a bunch of artists from Disney, and they had to do all these frames by hand. And the Hiroshima and Nagasaki is also fake, they just built the fake city and destroyed it. And the people that survived with burns, those were pre-selected actors who had some burns from home fires.
The survivors may have survived ordinary bombs, like real victims and not actors, but the bombs weren't nuclear.

The cameras were buried underground with long periscopes.
What about those in houses? Was the floor drilled?
Periscope Films on YouTube has a whole video about how these test detonations were filmed.
Does he explain how the fat fucks are actors and such obese individuals haven't been soldiers for 1 day?
You mean the cameras covered with immense shielding or inside bunkers? Those cameras?
No they were far away from the explosions and zoomed in.
