Men and women having equal rights?

What does it mean exactly for men and women to have equal rights? I don't really understand what the term "equal" means in this context.

Logically, it would mean that all the laws were gender-neutral; that no rights or obligations were extended to one sex while being denied to the other.

Lots of people claim to want this; few actually do.

Not altogether, there are laws to uphold equality but men get discriminated against under the law also in all 1st world countries. This is particularly true when it comes to criminal law, divorce, child rights.

That they have the exact same rights. For example, if women don’t have to get drafted, men don’t have to either. If male athlets have to swim topless, female athlets have to swim just as topless.
