What does it mean to be conservative to you in the United States?

People from the US: When you consider yourself conservative what are your beliefs? Why do you believe them? What does being conservative mean to you if anything at all?

Maybe this is too broad but topics you can mention include abortion, economic values, government, social safety nets, religion and its effect on government/society, immigration, drugs, voting rights, death penalty, prison, usage of tax dollars by the government, minimum wage, LGBT+ rights, foreign policy, gun control, mental health, health insurance, education, public school vs home school, climate change, alcohol legal drinking age, vaccinations, bans, free speech, and anything else.

Put simply, American Conservatism is Liberalism... Crazy huh... America is filled with Liberals that call themselves Conservatives and swear they hate Liberals every chance they get and Socialists that swear that they are Liberals but actually hate Liberalism to the very core and try to destroy the ideology at every turn and turn our country into a dictatorship...

In a traditional since Conservatism is an accumulation of political and social ideologies that promote tradition, preservation of institutions, opposition to political and social movements, and gradualism in political change.

The American Revolution occurred because Americans were seeking to preserve traditional rights and a traditional way of life without interference from the British crown. People wanted to be left alone... The United States lacked a native aristocracy, thus the ruling class became the people or more precisely the Constitution of the United States which was crafted by the people and which has been guarded since our inception. Conservatives fight to preserve liberalism... The institution they want to preserve is the Constitution of the United States so that the individual can maintain all of our God given freedoms. They oppose the political and social movements of the socialists that try to destroy the very fabric of our great nation. They promote individual liberties and decentralization of political power via states rights coupled with religious freedom. While many American conservatives are Christians, they do believe in freedom of religion. They think the government has no place or say in their church. They tend to preserve traditions surrounding Judeo-Christian morality, military tradition, patriotism, rule of law within a constitutional federal republic, capitalism, individual civil rights, a "classical" liberal ideology, etc. They tend to oppose foreign intervention in military affairs and promote industrialization at a national level as opposed to globalization.

At the end of the day American Conservatism is a flavor of Liberalism, just as Nazism is a flavor of Socialism. I personally don't consider myself a Conservative, I'm a Classical Liberal. That said, I share many views with Conservatives and wholeheartedly oppose Socialism.

As a conservative, I will do my best to give my definition of a conservative. Never listen to a liberal's definition of what a conservative, because they will lie to you.

1. If someone gets shot, I blame the shooter and not the gun.

2. Abortion: Trump just asked that mothers not kill their babies in late term abortions when the babies can feel pain.

3. Conservatives LOVE immigrants, but they need to follow the law and not break it. Liberals seem to love illegal immigrants, and conservatives do not.

4. Drugs: I want pot legal, and it is in my state. But the epidemic of hard drugs is destroying the country, and that's why China is bringing them here. Joe goes along with it because he's been compromised by Beijing. \

5. Voting rights means that you have to be of voting age and legal voter. The democrats hate that illegals can't vote.

6. Death penalty. Killers should be killed. Democrats want to give them the opportunity to kill again.

7. Minimum wage: It's criminal that the government won't raise it, but they vote to raise their own wages.

8. Usage of tax dollars. Stop giving our tax dollars for bullshit reasons like gender studies.

9. LGBTQ rights: You must be talking about marriage, and I'm all for them to form a legal bond, but just come up with your own term for it.

10. Foreign policy: Stop being the world police. Let Europe help Ukraine.

11. Gun control: Take a gun safety course and get a background check before being able to buy a gun. And if a criminal uses a gun during a crime, give them a life sentence.

12. Social safety nets: We already have those.

13. Mental Health: We need to build asylums for that.

14. School: Government school is the biggest hoax America has ever seen.
All school should be private, and paid for by the government.

15. Health Insurance: Basic health insurance should be given to all legal citizens. But America can't afford it, because we keep pissing our money away of pointless wars and freebies to other countries.

16. Climate change is a hoax, and that's why Biden is constantly flying on his massive jet.

17. The drinking age, voting age and military age, should all be the same.

18. Vaccines: Vaccines with a proven track record should be required. Vaccines that have proven to fail, should not be pushed by the government just to make big pharma richer.

19. Free speech: Liberals used to demand it, and now they hate it, because it's a threat to them.

"Conservative", if you ask me, is in fact very broad. You'll hear people say that they're "economically conservative but socially liberal". According to the left, anyone who's not in perfect lockstep with them is a conservative. Case in point, they'll call Tim Pool a conservative or far-right, even though he's pro-choice, pro-LGBT, pro-universal health-care, and pro-UBI. They'll call you a racist, fascist, sexist, white supremacist, white nationalist.. the list is too long to get into.

Some might have strong views on things, but might also be squishy and weak in their application and approach. This is where I once was. The term I use for that phase in my life now is "pseudo-liberal".

As for me personally, I am a traditional Catholic. From a cultural standpoint, I am strongly against abortion. I believe the true definition of marriage does not and cannot include homosexuals or lesbians. I think that the legal drinking age should be abolished. So should no-fault divorce; in fact, I think it should be incredibly difficult, even near impossible to get a divorce.

When it comes to government and policy, I would be perfectly happy if the government were downsized and gutted. I believe that the military should go back go being strong and robust again and that women should not be allowed in combat roles or in special operations. I'm in favor of the death penalty and against gun control.

I'd say "you probably know where I stand", but I'm not so sure. Like I said st the start, "conservative" is a very broad term.
