They can’t socially get away with saying and doing a lot of things liberals can.
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yIt's not necessarily conservatives, it's more libertarian minded individuals.
The left and right extremes both focus on moral authoritarianism the difference is just "won't someone think of the women and minorities" and "won't someone think of the children."
The political uniparty have a slight disagreement but that disagreement is like two friends who differ in favorite sports teams watch a games where the rivals play each other, but still have a fun night no matter who won. Mainly because if either one of them win the people lose, big time.
Libertarians want it all to end so of course the dominant authoritarian philosophy is going to condemn them as authoritarians that they themselves claim they don't also follow, while at the same time trying to change what it means to be those types of authoritarians just to get what they want.
Here's something people are going to find confusing: Nazis are not white supremacists (as they wouldn't try to take down their fellow majority white nations if they were) nor are they fascists. Nazis only believe that the Jews run the world and that alone makes it a bad thing if it were true, true or not rhetoric like this causes genocides. Fascists believe that the corporations should take the role of the state, which never ends well either.
So anyone who is aware of how moronic the moral authoritarians are for thinking that wanting things like school choice, very little to no taxes, the freedoms as shown in the Bill of Rights, or anything else that limits government power is Nazi or Fascist behavior can easily see the narrative that the left (or authoritarians in general) wants to unfold.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yDouble standards, plus the while world now is liberal and conservatives are pushed aside as they don't follow the social norms.
If you state a fact that trans women are not real women you get outcasted as you're transphobic, same goes for not wanting to date trans people, where does it end, you can't force someone into liking what they don't
I don't know what you mean by a higher standard and I don't know if that answered it00 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yProbably because conservatives are always saying something racist, sexist, homophobic or xenophobic, then try to gaslight everyone into believing it wasn’t what it clearly was to avoid accountability. It’s a regular pattern and it’s why they don’t ever get the benefit of the doubt.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yLeftists won't admit this is true. they can literally talk about mutilating children, and supporting pedophiles and see no consequences.. But the moment a conservative or even a moderate says something slightly out of line, canceled, loss of job, branded fir life as a racist, homophobic, sexist, literally Hitler.

+1 yConservatives claim the higher moral road. They created that standard for themselves. 🤷♀️

This question didn't ask who created the standard, the question is why they are held to a higher standard.

@Stacey55666
And I answered the question.
Because they claim the moral high ground. - +1 y
Would you recommend conservatives take the low ground like liberals?
- +1 y
@Stacey55666
It’s not a matter of whether or not they should? The question is, do they actually? They only claim to have the higher ground. I see no evidence that they actually walk it. OP calls it being held to a higher standard. I think it’s more about being held to your own standard. - +1 y
Don't you think it would be more strategic if the conservatives set their bar that of the liberals, and then they could chastise liberals that that fall below their own bar?
- +1 y
@Stacey55666
Liberals should be chastised when they don’t adhere to their own liberal standard. Conservatives should be chastised when they don’t adhere to their own conservative standards.
We petty much set the standard for ourselves. - +1 y
Maybe society as a whole should set the standards. DeSantis banned hotels from allowing children to attend raunchy drag shows. The liberals lost their minds over that. How dare Ron raise the bar on decency!
![Why are conservatives held to a higher standard?]()
Yeah, so conservatives should lower the bar so low that it touches the ground. Then they will be held to no standards at all. - +1 y
@Stacey55666
Regardless of whether or not you agree with that kind of thing, you have to consider that DeSantis is a champion for Parental Rights. The parents make the choices when it comes to their kids. Some parents don’t share his sense of decency, and they would be willing to take their children to a drag show. So now that they’re making choices that he doesn’t like, parental rights go out the window? That’s what I’m talking about. He only speak about parental rights when it suits his narrative.
The standard would be that if you want parents to have the ultimate say, they get it even when you don’t like the decisions they make.
Conservatives should set their bar at a level they are willing to adhere to themselves. If that means the bar touches the ground, then that’s the level they choose. It’s got nothing to do with anybody else. - +1 y
Should parents allow their young kids to smoke? Should stores sell cigarettes to little kids, if they have a note from their parents?

The term anchor baby was repeatedly used by liberals and the media, the second Trump said it, it was a racist term.
- +1 y
He referred to them as anchor babies and suddenly it was racist. End of story. There isn't any missing context to the term "anchor baby".
- +1 y
As reported by CNN: "Another republican immigration political fire storm over a single phrase (anchor baby) by a single candidate, guess who"? Of course, later Jeb Bush was asked by reporters if he regretted using the "term". His answer, "No, I don't. Do you have a better term"? There was nothing controversial before, during or after either candidate used the phrase, term, whatever. It was the phrase itself. That's all! End of story.
