Oxford English Dictionary (OED) announced its addition of the term “cisgender” (and variants) in 2015.

Cis has been a scientific term that has existed for many years and just basically means that something remains unchanged.
So
Cis man= has always been a man
Cis woman= has always been a woman
Cis gender= has always been the same gender
It's just an indicator.
I don't know why people have such a problem with it.
Yes it's used more lately but that's because trans people have been able to come out more these days.
Trans by the way is also scientific, it basically means different from before.
