France has just banned the abaya. Why is France so Islamophobic?

I live in Geneva, Switzerland, right next to France and speaking the same language. I think our neighbors like their state to be officially non-religious ("principe de la laicité"). They feel that this is challenged or threatened by people for whom religion is still paramount in their lives and counts more than loyalty to the state.
This fearàaa extends to certain articles of clothing. Of course, with the abaya they carried the paranoia a step too far. I cannot understand that, but I still attempted to explain it.

they are not islamophobic. Have you ever been to France? You find almost no central European country who houses as many islamic folks.

The thing is, there are a lot of foreign gangs and clans in France that are very dangerous. Remember the case where a teacher got decapitated because he said something "disrespectful"? They dont follow the law and laugh at the forceless police. A soon as the police does something, they use that as a fake argument to say the state is islamophobic. Its like the racism debate: out of valid arguments? Just cry racism and you win

I think its more the other way around: they are against us. In their eyes we need to adapt to their needs. Its getting out of hands. I once even heard an islamic priest saying that its a slow take over and that naive Europeans will accept them because they feel so badly the need to save everyone and be so nice.

@Levin I also spoke with many people who are genuinly concerned that our culture is being threatened to be pushed away and replaced by islam, which is already the case if you go to certain cities. So what is more islamophobic: not letting in any islamic people and making any practice of that religion illegal OR adopting tons of islamic people and let not integrate them but leave them live their curlture as if in their homecountry (like right now)

I'll be honest with you. I work in an educational institution, so my views and sense of norm may be skewed because I see so many of them. Our town also has some kind of 'deal' with the government to take them in, so now our non-white population is already 30%. But I can't fathom why we let them here or why they are here in the first place. Why are we taking in the third world? Can't speak a word of English. Poorly educated. No apparent respect for our values. Completely different and oppositional culture. They are simply not integrated, so they form their own kind of discrete cultures.

As a french. The general feeling in France is that muslims are walking all over us and our culture and given a free pass for everything. People are getting fed up with the country seemingly bending over backwards for them. People feel like they're getting slowly eaten up. Not saying it is what is actually happening, but it is what people feel here. The abaya indeed is more of a cultural cloth than religious one.
You could think why stop some kids from wearing abaya and letting some other kids wear typical colorful dresses, bonnets or beads. Both aren't religious, just of foreign culture. A lot of muslims have their religion tighlty linked with their culture so I guess that's why abaya is seen as religious. I think it could pass if they were more discreet about it but many muslims in France are completely crazy and violent about it. They have this agressive, trying to dominate attitude about it that most other foreign people don't. They do and say stuff that would get you lynched in other countries, and cry racism and islamophobia if someone says anything. Just looking for trouble type of attitude. I know that the way I say it it seems like most of them I like that. I don't think its is the case but there is a decent enough amount that enough french people are getting worried about it. Personally I believe in freedom of religion (not in school) but I still think Islam is violent misogynistic pro pedo low intelligence trash of a religion. You can't imagine the amount of and rape treaths I would get for saying that on French social media.

I’ve seen a few of these laws come in France. Like the anti burqa law. I’m always for self expression, free speech.

But…I can argue that Islamic women’s devotion to these emasculating clothes was brainwashed. Thus making them illegal could free them. Idk….
