They were big in the 80s and 90s. Much of what he said translates pretty well, but there is definitely territorial control in urban areas for drug distribution and there are silent lines people don't cross unless they're ready to die... Maybe not for the Chinese gangs, but in other gangs definitely. You don't see as many people flying colors and tagging spots today as you did back then, but they're still around doing crime. They just have to adapt to the new reality on the ground.

Like he said, gangs went from operating whore houses to putting one or two women in an apartment. That was an adaptation to the police raids. After a while that moved towards having drivers pick up the girls t those apartments (safe houses) and driving them to appoints which were booked through escort services to make it all look semi-legal. The game is always out there, it just gets played in different ways depending on police pressure.

You can see he was more of a 70 and 80s youth with the bootleg VHS tapes... By the 90s that turned into bootleg CDs and cloned cellphones that were often acquired from purse snatching and car shopping... By the 2000s that evolved into pirated satellite TV cards credit card skimmers. There's always something new people are trying to make a quick buck.

Depends. But in general, long as the leave me and mine alone, I have no personal issue. Some gangs are even good to know in some circumstances
