RFK Jr. running as an Independent - do you support this choice?

I personally LOVE that he's doing this. The DNC is so corrupt they won't let him succeed. Even IF most DEMS prefer RFK Jr. over Biden for the nomination.

This move, for sure, is going to HURT them badly in 2024. My feeling is that this just gives Trump an even bigger victory.

He’s doing it to siphon votes away from Trump. RFK doesn’t have a chance in hell to win. This isn’t to say his policies are bad... this just isn’t his time. He is however a Washington insider and from a political family. He’s more than willing to make a deal.

He’s doing all this to be president in 2028. He’ll be young enough to run again, he’s in great health, he’ll have a clear political field without Trump taking all the oxygen out of the room—and Biden voters who have to double down on Biden because they are so viciously opposed to Trump. Democrats aren’t the party of Biden; they are the party of anti-Trump. There is more enthusiasm to hate and stop Trump than there is to support Biden.

Buuuut Democrats have already painted RFK as a conspiracy theorist and a vaccine skeptic and they’ve even called him an anti-Semite. Are Democrats really going to break ranks and vote for RFK with that baggage?

Nope.

Which means the only voters RFK will likely attract are Conservatives. Possibly those “Never-Trumpers” or the ones who think that Trump is just too divisive to vote for them.

By doing this, and playing ball with the DNC by running third party in 2024, they will in turn endorse and support RFK in 2028. Biden wi probably be in a nursing home, Trump a memory, and who else do the Democrats have to put up in 2028?

Newsome? Ehhh. Doubtful. I don’t see how he managed to stay relevant for four years and stay in the mix politically. He already was recalled once. Him getting re-elected Governor isn’t a certainty. And he isn’t out writing books like RFK is, staying in the spotlight and at least being talkworthy.

So this is all just a political deal with RFK and the DNC. One hand washes the other. And unless someone magically appears to be the hero of the Democrats in 2028 (especially when they won’t have Trump to run against) RFK is all they got.

I think I read that he meet with the libertarian party (but didn't make a decision yet) which if true he could end up with democrats, republicans and independents voting for him. I don't think they've had a candidate with as much potential to win as he has in the past.

rfk is a brilliant lawyer. he recognized the dangers in biden policy and wants to fix dnc from inside, but he saw things are getting "rigged" not coming from opponent trump but from insider so yeh he needs to run as 3rd party. u. s. is NOT a 2 party election as many say.

I expect Kennedy to take votes away from Biden in the 2024 election the same way Perot took votes away from Bush in the 1992 election. Especially if Kennedy picks Sanders as a running mate.

@strateguy632 I'm just making an educated guess that Kennedy, who's a centrist Democrat, would pick Sanders, who's a very liberal Democrat, to further widen his appeal to those Democrats who are fed up with Biden and Harris. Also, Sanders was screwed over by Clinton and the Democratic National Committee chairwoman Wasserman-Schultz ahead of the 2016 election... similarly to the way Biden is screwing over Kennedy now by refusing to debate him ahead of the 2024 election.
