Donyou think defunding the police has saved black lives or cost black lives?

Here are the cold hard statistics about homicide rates in the USA. They were trending down for many years since peaking in the early 1990s. Then they skyrocketed up again in 2020 and onward:
https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/USA/united-states/murder-homicide-rate
Anyway I knew BLM was bullshit from day one. But when I said that on GAG back in 2020 the woke warriors immediately were asking “how are you? Identify yourself! Fucking racist!” If they had it their way they would have private citizens doxxed and publicly flogged. But I knew the following hard facts:
But play stupid games win stupid prizes. But why is that we always have to find out the hard way with liberal stupidity?
@goaded do you really believe Trump is trying to reproduce 1930s Germany? In all sincerity do you REALLY believe that. If you do I guess anybody who voted for Trump is a “Nazi” right?
What’s even worse about your viewpoints is you live in the country where the Nazi upbringing started. You if anybody should know the difference between Adolf Hitler vs. Trump.
Again why are you so obsessed about American politics? Why does it matter to you?
The really shitty part is our communist liberal media broadcasts worldwide. So foreigners are getting a very warped perspective of how things really are here.
Get a Visa can come over her for 5 years. Spend some time in the shit stained streets of San Francisco or go hang out in ultra violent south Chicago. If you take a good look you will see what leftist policies have down to our major cities. It’s run them into the f*cking ground.
I observed my hometown of Denver turn into a shithole after the democrats took over out state. It’s now the capital of car jackings nationwide.
You're looking at 1945 Hitler with hindsight, after we knew about the Holocaust (which started in 1942), I'm looking at how he came to power and what he did when he got there. I can see the similarities between 1930's Hitler and Trump. Republican senators voted to acquit Trump in his impeachment because they were afraid for the safety of their families; what does that say to you?
There's a published plan to replace huge numbers of civil servants with True Believers, whoever the next Republican president happens to be; Republicans have been trying to consolidate power in the Executive Branch for decades, and they've taken over SCOTUS with at least two "justices" beholden to billionaires.
@goaded: Stop the utter BS. You know damn well that it's Marxists who are the totalitarians. And stop suggesting that people who don't share your politics are Nazis. You don't understand US politics or US society. As someone who is descended from people who actually did survive the Holocaust, I can tell you that anyone afraid of totalitarianism who pretends it isn't coming from leftists in the US and Europe is being completely dishonest.
US federal government employees are almost all Democrats and a significant number of them were once Democratic political appointees. And no one has time to correct you on the propaganda you've regurgitated from Democratic Party talking points.
@goaded how about you stay your lane and we will stay ours.
You don’t reside in the USA. You don’t vote in our elections. American domestic policy has little to no impact on your life. I don’t get why are wasting your time going off on this.
This isn’t a one off comment for you. I see your Ukrainian flag icon immediately pop up almost immediately whenever there is a question about politics. by the way I initially supported the Ukraine until I found out the USA is using our taxpayer money to boost THEIR economy. That infuriated me.
Just for the record I spent a few in Germany back in 2021. Berlin and Leipzig go be exact. I know the zeitgeist at least in the metro cities is extremely liberal right now.
But I also noticed that Germans have a better appreciation for community. There was lot less litter. People obey the rules (including not jaywalking). Germans aren’t very friendly but they are professional. I was impressed by how clean, efficient and well run things are.
However your culture is a lot more homogenous than the United States. I live in what’s consider a “white state” and yet it is much more diverse in my state and city vs what I saw in Germany.
Diversity in itself is a good thing. But when have the floodgates opening with unchecked illegal immigrants (including cartel activity) that’s a different story. If Germans think Romanian immigrants can be bad just trying dealing with Mexican cartel fucks who are flooding our cities with fentanyl and killing people.
So please STAY YOUR LANE. If you really want to get into international authoritarian debates then we can talk about the Swiss journalist who was recently jailed for 60 days JUST for saying “fat lesbian”. THAT is fascism. That is horrifying. I know European countries have restrictions of free speech but that’s on a completely another level. There are leftists in the USA who want to see the exact same thing happen. But things would get bloody here if it came to that.
You mean the professional shit-stirrer who'd also been imprisoned for Holocaust denial in France? Another former left-winger who's worked out where the money is.
You do understand that you have to work really hard to get charged, let alone convicted under these laws? It's also possible to express your opinions, even disgusting ones, without insulting or denigrating people.
Why shouldn't I express opinions on here? Why don't you address the arguments, rather than attacking the messenger?
@goaded you can express your opinions all you want. However I also have a right to express mine.
I am not going to respect you criticizing domestic political issues that have no impact on your life nor do you live in a environment where you see their immediate impacts. I felt much safer in Leipzig and Berlin then I would ever feel in my hometown of Denver. Denver used to be a very nice place too. But leftist policies like “defund the police” have driven it into the ground.
But seriously why waste your time criticizing American domestic politics? Also I 100% believe in freedom of speech as long as you do not directly call for violence. I think Holocaust deniers are disgusting. But there is a huge difference between denying the Holocaust vs. blatantly telling people to attack Jews. But now this Marxist bullshit is being extended to other groups of people. It’s not like that journalist openly said to go kill gay people.
racism causes death. Defunding the police was a result of people being sick and tired of systemic racism. I personally don’t believe defunding is the answer, but better training is.
Training will help. Also getting people to understand the dangers and stress of being a policeman/woman who get shot at, punched, run over and more. Many who have taken the police test of pulling someone over and eventually getting shot at understand first hand how dangerous and stressful it can be and how a split second decision is needed. Its hard. But not having police has caused a lot of death, more than the odd one that people will protest so I think it has cost more lives than it saved. It is also creating a fearful environment and food deserts.

I can only think of one other movement in US history -- other than the "Defund the Police" movement -- that is responsible for more deaths of black people... and that movement is abortion which kills disproportionately far more black babies than white ones.
What a coincidence that BOTH of these black genocidal movements are a product of the exact same party that was founded to represent slave owners and has followed a genocidal agenda against blacks for the last 200 years... all the while pretending to defend them... what a JOKE!
The most astonishing fact of all is that in spite of the history of this party the majority of black people still vote for them today. But there is evidence that is changing as President Trump now has more support among blacks than any other Republican in modern times. And it is increasing every day as more and more black people wise up and abandon the Democrat plantation.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/bMx23FMo10UIt has costed lives.
In my hometown where they defunded the police, crime skyrocketed to an all time high.
We can’t trust the general public to police themselves. People aren’t innately good. There needs to be people who can keep criminals in check.
Even though corrupt police officers exist, the majority of them are doing their job properly.
Instead of defunding the police, there needs to be better preventative measures to keep corruption out of the police force.
Which would not be so much defunding the police, but establishing systems and policies so that personnel need to adhere to strict criteria to remain active.
And how should that work? money is not killing black people.. in your start post the police did..
I guess that is what you mean by "save "
I see you are Swedish. The word “cost” can mean different things based on context. This isn’t about money. Instead of “cost black lives” it would be better said for you that it “led to additional deaths of blacks”. Fewer police means criminals can do what they want and black men kill about half of the people that are murdered even though black men are 6% of the population. They most often kill other black men so fewer police means they can murder more and their primary victims are other black men.
Oh i see. Thank you for explaining. 👍
The number of blacks killed by each other is orders or magnitude higher than the number of black people killed by law enforcement. Defunding the police just makes the problem worse, just look at the sorry state of large Democrat run cities with Soros-backed DAs.
incidents like this are surely not helping the black community to improve their image, it will just make people more hatful towards them and so will the police
Generally, the Blue cities are combat zones and they don't look like me.
Do you think anyone defunded the police?
There was one town where the new boss was a black woman and half the force resigned. Crime went down.
Apologies, "The first hire was Officer Alice White, the force’s first high-ranking Black woman. The second was Virgil Green, the town’s first Black police chief."
www.nytimes.com/.../...rce-quit-crime-dropped.html
Actually NYC said they were and I believe they did, take billions away, billions with a B. Well if crime went down then people in these cities need to stop complaining and cut more, it only makes sense then. But they are indeed complaining, loudly, and cities are putting money back into these forces but for cities like San Fransisco companies are closing their outlets… maybe because of Amazon but they blame crime? Maybe the mass thefts are just a creation of Hollywood. Very clever. /s
Not even close to reality. Maybe you should find other sources of information.
cbcny.org/research/was-nypd-budget-cut-1-billion
I wonder what they did then as this article and others say they moved a billion a year from the police budget… huh.
abcnews.go.com/.../story?id=71552471
Hmmm. Cuts coming again soon. They have a staffing problem because cops don’t want to work in NYC anymore so they have to pay the ones that are there expensive overtime. But the article says they are trying to drive down crime to pre pandemic rates (also read that as pre-defunding rates). But you said crime can get better with fewer cops… you know in the one obscure example that remains untested. Perhaps the New Yorkers who write the NY Post might know something about their city vs a German.
nypost.com/.../
Wouldya look at that: "the actual fiscal year 2021 budget cut to NYPD’s City-funded expenditures was $322 million, less than the $474 million originally projected", and they went over budget in 2020.
Still not "billions" (with a B). Not to mention that the budget "savings" included just shifting people from one department to another; they'd still get funded.
cbcny.org/.../five-fast-facts-about-nypds-adopted-fy-2022-budget
City council approved it. They money is sloshing around somewhere but perhaps more used for social services workers paid via the police budget. Plus overtime eats a lot of money. NYC voters are getting what they wanted. Why don’t you vacation there and spend time on the subway and walk around at night.
The most recent article he, meaning the Mayor, said “He has said the migrant influx could cost the city $12 billion in the next three years and that Big Apple agencies will have to immediately come up with cuts of 5% — and possibly a total of 15% by spring — although Jia said the more draconian figure would still “only cover two-thirds of our projected asylum costs.”
The first article said “ For the 2021 fiscal year, the $1 billion reduction in the NYPD's operating budget includes $484 million in cuts to the department; shifting the command of school officers to the Department of Education; eliminating two of the four NYPD training classes this year, which reduced headcount by 1,163 uniform officers; and reducing overtime spending by $352 million, according to the city council.”
So they eliminated two training classes for new cops and reduced by $1billion. Now they have few cops and need to spend a lot for overtime. Abcnews is a liberal new site.
Firstly, $1 billion is not your claimed "billions", and the "$1 billion reduction in the NYPD's operating budget" is not even one billion, it's less than half that ($485m), and the budget reduced the amount the department had to spend by "shifting the command of school officers to the Department of Education". So, at most it was a 5% cut of their $10 billion budget, which they exceeded anyway, which doesn't sound much like defunding to me.
Reducing headcount doesn't sound like a good idea, I agree.
Many activists wanted to take it to zero and disband the police. Nutjobs. They certainly spoke of billions. I did not keep up in what they did as life is too short and too much to do. I do know that its a mess there and many people with money have moved out and have gone to Florida.
They also named the city a “sanctuary city” but they didn't expect or understand the magnitude of the number of illegals crossing our border. Now they do since the southern states have sent them thousands of people whereas the souther states have had to absorb tens of millions over the years. Some estimates are over 40 million. Foreign born are at 46 million but the number of illegals is unclear. That is far greater than the 16 million East Germans West Germany had to absorb. We didn’t get their land their though and they moved into existing cities whereas in Germany they cane with land and the population already had homes. The liberal policies in the US have created havoc with crime and a foreign population surge.
I see from the other post that you are concerned Trump supporters are Nazis. Thats just the liberals slandering us. Communism was never an ussie here but recently there is a hardcore group of them. Antifa is originally a German organization if i=I recall correctly which were communists against the nazis. Well the communists here feel they need Nazis to fight just like Putin. Trump supporters came from families that fought the Nazis in WWII such as my own family so that isn’t going to happen here.
I find your thoughts on this intriguing. If you have questions in this regard you can ask them openly and I will answer. I will be offline for a while but I will be back on later.
Obviously, anybody saying you don't need any form of police aren't thinking, but they'll never get their way, they're fringe. My point is that you're blaming raises in crime rates on something that never really happened in reality.
Republicans, especially their leaders, are acting in a way that can lead to a dictator coming to power in the US, and I'm likening it to Hitler's rise to power in the early 1930s.
Trump is already claiming the Democrats are planning to steal the 2024 election, and Republican leaders are saying nothing in support of American democracy. This should worry everyone.
Senators apparently refused to vote to convict Trump out of fear for their families. This should worry everyone.
Some, including a Trump presidential adviser are even promoting the idea of a "Red Caesar", an autocrat, to run the "post-Constitutional" country with absolute power. This should worry everyone.
"The idea that the US might be redeemed by a Caesar – an authoritarian, rightwing leader – was first broached explicitly by Michael Anton, a Claremont senior fellow and Trump presidential adviser.
... developed [Caesarism] further in his 2020 book, The Stakes, defining it as a “form of one-man rule: halfway … between monarchy and tyranny.
... a far-right dictatorship remains “a tail-end, worst-case scenario”, but one that is more realistic in the US now than it has been for many decades.
“Thirty years ago, if I told you that a bunch of billionaires and intellectuals on the right are waiting in the wings to impose a dictatorship on the United States, you would have said that I was insane,” he said.
“But it’s no longer insane. It’s now real. There are those people out there,” Linker added. “The question is: will they get their chance.”"
www.theguardian.com/.../red-caesar-authoritarianism-republicans-extreme-right
I haven’t heard the term Caesarism or Red Caesar from that think tank. It must not be a very popular phrase. I read a lot including liberal news websites, conservative websites, foreign news such as France, Japan, Australia, UK, Ireland and more which I frequent so this is not a term that is used from what I have seen read. I was also on Reddit and frequented The Donald if you heard of it. Even in there this was not discussed.
No one that I know sees Trump as anything but a frank, blunt, brash, businessman who has been right quite often where others have been wrong on major issues. Such as:
- Covid likely coming from the Wuhan Lab in China.
- Not allowing people coming from China to come to the US in 2020. He was called a racist by Europe and others and then two months later Europe started to deny people from China entering but it was too late and Italy was hit hardest.
- Telling Germany to stop buying fuel from Russia. They didn’t and scoffed at him but now look for other sources.
- Warned Germany and others that the US would leave Nato. Biden has reversed that but many of us are deeply unhappy that we subsidize European defense so this issue is far from over.
- Was right about building a wall on the southern border and now Biden, just this oastvtwo day, has agreed to start building the wall again after he sold off unused steel panels for cheap… so now more is needed and it will take too long.
- New York and California politicians called Trump racist for building the wall but now they know they are in trouble but it is too late.
- Trump was right about the economy and when Obama told us a sluggish economy was the new norm, Trump came in and made huge leaps forward for the economy which Obama then tried to take credit for.
So Trump has been right about a lot and that is what people like about him. He also isn’t a politician and he speaks as we speak to each other. He seems to be right when others are shown later to have been completely wrong.
We have lost faith and trust in mass media as it is now one sided and untrustworthy. This I think is a huge issue as there is no single source of truth. Its all corrupted by politicians. And now scientists and mathematicians have been corrupted as well since they have been found to have been lying on various topics. Having no source of truth is the most dangerous thing I believe.
Biden should jot be in the role, he has mental issues and people know. Even just this week a black woman journalist has come forward and shared that he couldn’t finish sentences when she spoke to him but that was edited out. The Left want to defund police, let criminal go unpunished, let the steal everything without consequences, let tens of millions of illegals in and we along with Trump said no.
Trump didn’t give us these issues to stand on. They were there and Trump shouted them for all to hear which is why he has support and others don’t.
So who are Trump supporters such as myself and the ones I know. They are business executives who have been successful, a Cardiac Nurse, a Golf Pro, a married lesbian from the fashion industry (my sister), my wife a stay at home mom and housewife, a clerk, a truck driver, a substitute teacher. These are the people I know and no one wants a dictator. Its just fantasy to think there is Caesarism, its made up by a think tank. We just want our issues addressed with solutions that make sense and we are about half of the country.
I don't see you expressing concern that Republicans aren't standing up for democracy, that there's a Trump presidential advisor talking about turning the Republic into a dictatorship, or that Republican senators were literally terrorised into not voting to convict Trump.
Instead, you're feeding into it by declaring mass media to be "one sided and untrustworthy" (Fox News, OANN, NewsMax, Sinclair don't exist any more? Now, they're really untrustworthy!) and that scientists and mathematicians must either be infallible or ignored altogether. What's your alternative "source of truth"? Trump?
You claim Biden is incompetent, because someone who admits she thinks Biden is “a terrible president.”, is sure that it was mental incompetence that the president trailed off on an unimportant anecdote before the interview started when she could only hear him, and not, say, that he was passed something to read? She was probably just pissed that he didn't know who she was. By the way, when did you last see McConnell?
You're repeating fringe views as if they're mainstream Democratic policy, and likely to be made law, and outright lying about what's really happening. Much like Fox News spending weeks saying how the NYC subway shooter would get off with a slap on the wrist, but not a word about his 17 months in jail and ten life sentences. You've personally blamed things on the NYC police being defunded, when they'd at most had a 5% budget cut (and overspent that). Now you're lying about immigration; illegal immigrants don't get welcomed, refugees do.
"Its just fantasy to think there is Caesarism, its made up by a think tank."
And heavily promoted by an adviser to former president Trump, who likes reading about Mussolini. It is literally a plan to turn the US into a dictatorship.
"We just want our issues addressed with solutions that make sense and we are about half of the country."
Actually, you're about a third, at most. Closer to a quarter.
Actually we are standing up for democracy. We are vocal about what we see as problems. I doubt they are afraid of violence for not voting for Trump but anyway death threats are very common on all issues here so this is nothing unique.
As I said, mass media is corrupt and biased. You assume that I only meant liberal media. What does that say about how you view us I wonder. You really don’t understand us and that is something you need to understand as it affects your ability to understand an issues that you have a lot of interest in.
Biden is compromised by age, just like many other 80 year old person. He refuses to speak publicly on issues, he won’t have true press conferences, he hides or his staff hides him… we have eyes and ears, its not hard to figure out. He could speak often and thereby dismiss these ideas but of course he won’t. And the other who are over 75, they should not be in office no matter if the are D or R. Again, you don’t seem to understand which is disturbing.
NYC is not as safe or as good as it was. My gay sister has lived there at least 25 years and she knows what is going in and has let me know. Liberal policies which have destroyed these cities and now people on the left and right see the results, that is the bottom line and that is what cannot be hidden. Many on the Left are seeing and hopefully learning.
Lastly, one quarter of us, even though just under half of voters, is 85 million people (340 million time.25)… which by the way is a bigger population than Germany at 83.3 million people… so don’t think that minimizes anything. If ten percent of those radicalize and have an armed uprising that would be an army of over 8 million. That is what you should think about, not some unknown assholes in Washington who think they speak for us. And the real Army and Air Force, many would be with those radicals and even if not air bases can easily be overrun with a force of ten thousand hitting it. Thats is the more probable scenario as no leader will take control legally or otherwise until this gets figured out in the larger population.
You can't stand up for democracy by not accepting the results of elections you don't like. Senator Romney (who can afford round-the-clock security) says that other Republican senators were afraid of Trump supporters, and why not? They'd just witnessed the first non-peaceful transfer of power in the history of the country.
You said mass media was one-sided, iirc. I listed the other side.
https://youtu.be/Ru_AXz9q2J4
I'd prefer some younger politicians, but this obsession with Biden's age and pretending it's significantly different from Trump's is ridiculous. You might as well believe Trump is 6-foot-3 and his weighs 215 pounds.
"NYC is not as safe or as good as it was."
Since when? Murder has returned to 2012 levels, rape to 2006. Both were well down on 2000.
Again, democracy is about majorities, and the vast majority of Americans don't approve of everything Republicans want, just as a majority of Americans don't approve of what the extreme left want, but the point is that the Republican party is now the extreme right, the Democratic party is only slightly right of where the public are.
"If ten percent of those radicalize and have an armed uprising that would be an army of over 8 million" 8 million TRAITORS. Do you not realise that you're threatening rebellion?
The military swear an oath to the constitution, not to a president or king. If they break that oath, they'd also be traitors.
Biden is too old. Even democrats agree at 69% of them. Worse, independents feel he is too old at 77% while only 48% of them feel that way about Trump. Thats a big problem for democrats.
NYC should fee safe then according to your statistics but they don’t… and they woukd know as they live there.
nypost.com/.../
The military does swear allegiance to the constitution which is why they would take up arms against those that are in power but violating the constitution. They would be patriots not traitors. The original revolutionary had people who went against England for a better world. There were Germans who went against Hitler for a better world. And I haven’t threatened rebellion but i can see what is happening like anyone else here. You are not part of our society, you do not understand and never will.
If Biden is too old now, then Trump will be too old half way into the next president's first term. Republicans being idiots is a normal problem for Democrats.
At least 41% of New Yorkers are under 40. That's a stupid article that proves my point.
How do you expect to convince the military that the government is eliminating the constitution when there are still elections? Only one side is saying elections they lose are stolen, and it's not the Democrats.
Christ! I just looked at the rest of that NY Post bullshit article, and it's peppered with statistics that mean nothing but make people scared. Am I worried I might be a victim of crime? Yes, a bit. Have I been a victim of crime? No, not in the last 20 years, since I left something lying about that someone took. Will I be a victim of crime? Probably not.
Am I therefore living in fear? Hell, no! But that's what they want you to think.
Trump is smart and sharp. Biden is not, he is feeble. That is what people see and why the poll results are as they are for independents. Again, you don’t understand because you are far away, don’t see this day to day or have our culture. You won’t even believe the New Yorkers on how they feel about their city… because somehow your ass in Germany see more? Laughable.
I don’t care what he weighs or even what he says, I care about what he does and so far it has been spot on for our economy and key issues where others were dead wrong. NY’er don’t feel safe and they COULD if things were different. No one here cares what you know for a fact... no one.
There is a saying here, 'There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics'.
I like democracies as well. Trump likes winning, I like winning. Trump like financial success, I like financial success.
I like politicians that want to make the country better, Trump does as well. Biden/Obama don’t, they want bigger houses, drugs for their son, fancy parties and people kissing their ass. Trump’s houses he built either himself through his companies or invested money to earn it. He didn’t give $500,000 1 hour speeches to Wall Street while in power but not able to now as someone like Hillary has not real power now. Or sell shit paintings for $500,000 as a way to funnel money which have no resale value and will not be able to sell more after Biden leaves office. Or sell 10 feet of lawn to a billionaire who moved next door for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It would be crass to answer that question. Suffice it to say I've been retired for some time now.
Trump took over his father’s business, and he inherited money when his father died. Are you really sure he increased the amount? And did he do it as a savvy businessman or through not paying what he owes, losing other people's money in multiple bankruptcies, evading taxes, and general fraud?
Have you seen the letter written to the Florida assessor, asking if they'll re-assess Mar-a-Lago as the claimed half a billion? Property taxes would be about $6 million a year. :)
You can be crass. Lots of retired people can stay afloat living very modestly, its understandable. Making millions would likely be hard in Germany if thats where you are from.
No one can be sure about how Trump made his money but he sure helped the US with a powerful economy after Obama (the lawn salesman) told us wouldn’t be happening and that we needed to get used to what he and now Biden offer us. Many people made a lot of money and had decent jobs with good salaries and our money went a lot further. Trump seems to know how to make money, his father didn’t have a 757 or places like Mar-a-Lago so yes, he did increase the amount of money.
I think the assessment letter is funny and a bit brilliant, lol. Perhaps the current house is not worth what is claimed but I could see it transform into a full resort or many smaller properties and it could be worth a lot more and hit the number he says. Yes people there would fight him on that but what else is new with such things. His having been who he is will add a lot of value to a transformed property which makes it worth more than if an unknown owned it.
I put 106 so people would know that’s not my real age… it’s supposed to be obvious, lol.
It’s funny how you retired and Trump is still working. I worked well past my needs as well. Perhaps all that vacation, in Germany was it, still wasn’t enough and you picked the pension over being a productive member of society. Which I guess is better than inheriting money and sitting on your ass all day.
since the police have been defunded it has been open season on gang bangers.
It cost lives of all colors. The idiots that were for this are begging cops to come and join their police forces.
Crime is rising without police, hence bad news for everyone.
Leftist DAs are also doing no cash bails for violent suspects.
