Ide rather tremendously increase police presence in poor communities to such a degree that It’s nearly impossible to get away with and there’s so many that there’s some free to mentor the children. I enjoy the videos of police just stopping to play a few rounds of basketball with kids. These kids don’t have positive role models to look too…

Up to a point. The bigger issue is the deep standing mistrust between many black communities and police in general. It's especially sad, because my people- the Irish- went through the same damn thing (yeah, TODAY we're just another group of "white people", but that's a pretty recent development). We solved it by joining the police en masse and reshaping that culture into one that understood the communities it was policing. It'd work for the black folks, too, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

Agree but isn’t that mistrust widely misplaced? In I think it was 2020 the number of blacks killed by police was in the double digits. The media pushes cops as kkk members hunting blacks in the streets. We can’t fight this simply with enforcing policies to an extreme degree because while this may work with weak liberals (Juicy) who broke after a week in jail… the black communities suffered and struggled and their way too strong and obstinate to be control through force… increasing police force to an insane degree will reduce crime more than increasing harshness. This opens the officers to interact within the communities to earn their trust.

Well, yes and no. Mainstream black culture has many aspects that police demonize, both legitimately- driving through neighborhoods playing nuclear bass notes- and illegitimately- smoking marijuana- that the police don't really have a choice about enforcing. Many of those are, in whole or in part, rooted in anti-black prejudice.

Black people need to learn why having a police presence is a good thing. Let them kill each other for a while and wait for them to start begging for help. Any help you give colored people today will be used against you tomorrow so lets be honest their problems aren't my problems.

This is called tough love and I agree, not just blacks but most Americans need to suffer to understand how easy we have it…

But the trouble from these areas spills out from the ghettos into society in the form of behavior and expectation. Most blacks are seen a certain way because such a small portion of the total population of America being black but responsible for a large portion of shootings… we don’t wanna make that worse.

No, however some black communities in America are exceptionally impoverished and would better benefit from sports centres and parks, rather than increased police presence.
It’s the same as poor white communities, they just need a better quality of living to help break the cycle. Police should be introduced after they have helped flourish the area.

This had been tried. Pouring money into communities dont help because crime still drives businesses out and all that shiny new stuff at the park gets vandalized.

I mean I’m not saying have no police. It’s just that without community centres and places to re-educate people. How can police persuade residents to do no wrong, when they have no outlet, nothing.

It’s been done and it don’t work. This exact process has been tried in Chicago. That’s going well… which is more likely to control murder in the streets a police officer on every corner of a local YMCA?

Was just thinking of ways to help them. Some of these places have bare minimal as it is.

I’m quiet passionate about giving people an alternative. It’s imperative that communities are fed more opportunities to thrive, rather than just being dismissed as a lost cause. Everyone deserves a chance. Police are good. But they are not the entire answer.

That’s why I suggest an over saturation of police so that the extra police we have can spend their time in the clock playing with and talking with the kids and young men to be better mentors.

We have to respond to the crime issue now and the cultural issue over time. This hits both sides and shows businesses to start coming back.

I think first comes security then improvement. Especially when the improvement comes from outside sources that need a reason to invest in your area.

These areas that burned during the BLM riots… god all that lost business. Imagine these areas in 10 years… this is on the people that allowed this… the fact is they will move away when times get tough but the poor will be stuck in an endless loop of failure…
