Yes, I think there needs to be more police presence. But that's only a part of a much larger problem.

The far left - which controls most large cities and has for decades, has never been overly interested in reducing crime except for in wealthy areas where their donors live. For these people, using "racism" as a wedge issue and an excuse for more taxes and more power and as an excuse not to follow the law is far more important than solving the crime problem. They need black people to be in poverty and despair and to be dependent on the government - that keeps black people voting for the left on every election cycle, despite the fact that circumstances for poor blacks have gotten steadily worse since the 1960s under the left's leadership.

The police can come in and make arrests, but if DAs decline to prosecute, or if juries decline to convict, or if judges give light sentences for serious crimes like rape and murder, then all the police in the world aren't going to solve the crime problem. It all has to work as a system, and everyone needs to have the same goals - and today, half or more than half of the "justice system" don't care about justice, but rather "woke activism" and Marxism. No wonder crime is out of control. Murders in Portland are up over 800%, and in NYC nearly 400%, and other serious crimes are also skyrocketing - especially on those hotspots as well as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, Minneapolis, and everywhere else that "woke politics" have invaded. When you have no interest in punishing criminals, of COURSE you get more crime, and it's a lot more than just the police who are responsible for that.

There's a few other big problems. Most people don't understand how policing works, and especially how policing works in high-crime, high-violence areas - and most of the mainstream media exploits this and constantly gives their opinions that police SHOULD have done this or that - including stupid things like "shoot them in the leg" or "shoot the weapon out of their hand." With the media, most of it isn't ignorance either - it's intentionally framing the situation to make it look as bad as possible and - whenever it involves a white cop and a black subject - to be as racist as possible. Never mind that a policy is officially taught or that white people are treated exactly the same way in the same situation - it MUST be racist!

And that's the last point: if someone is committing a crime, especially a potentially deadly crime, they should EXPECT police to treat them like a dangerous CRIMINAL, and the color of their skin is irrelevant. A black cop can shoot a dozen black criminals, or a white cop a dozen white criminals, and you'll never hear about it in the media, because it doesn't advance the racist narrative, but anything that MIGHT be remotely questionable (especially before all the relevant facts have been collected) is AUTOMATICALLY going to be called racist, and the implication, if not the outright accusation, is that racism was the PRIMARY reason for whatever happened - completely ignoring the crimes being committed. That is the far left at work, and as long as those people control policy, those cities they control are going to be war zones, with or without police.

Why do you think the Portland riot squad quit en masse? Their leadership - at all levels -completely failed them, and so now, Portland doesn't have cops to respond to their DAILY riots. It's now Mad Max in Portland - and other cities want to follow that model...

Did you know almost 0 training is received on hand to hand combat.

A 20 something cop fresh from academy. Sees a 6ft man coming at him with a knife instead of talking him down this guy's more likely to shoot.

He's no confidence in himself.

Cops aren't racist.

There are policies in place that let them do things they shouldn't do.

Such as quotas.

If I drive 20 min to a bad neighborhood I'll find some people down on there luck addicts, drunks etc they're an east target to meet my quota that should stop.

Cops should be better funded. Each academy is different each department receives different levels levels training aoem are good some are bad.

Fund police training equally across the board. So these people are trained to think instead of shoot.

Perhaps, but the predominantly black communities already have a lot more police presence than predominantly white communities. Not only that, but white police can be a lot more harmful to black communities than they are beneficial. Recent and less recent death counts support that over policing of black communities has resulted in more deaths of black individuals.

I agree, but I also think that things like the police force and political offices should be held by people who are actually qualified and want to do the job, rather than people who aren't qualified and are only accepted to fit a certain demographic quota.

nope this is not the solution. more police wil just mean more interactions with police and more arrests and more jail/prison overcrowding.

before anyone says "don't commit crimes duh" just remember stop and frisk is still in play in a lot of these areas

What they really need is the military to roll in hard and fast and kick doors. Breach, bang, and clear… Treat the black community like Fallujah and clear the terrorists that are all over the internet in videos so that the rest of the community that is held hostage by their crime wave can go back to normal life.

Blacks are 23% off the US population. Their 80% of the homicides. Unfortunately the answer is either eliminating them with apparently is illegal or flossing their communities with money… both have been suggestions neither are going to happen. Businesses will not open in their areas because of crime. And we’ll Hitler was a thing…

Of course.. Depends on the "Black" community because there are some generally safe ones, but yeah the "hood" definitely doesn't need police defunded.. The only real threat to us are the neighborhood terrorizers shooting innocent people while trying to kill their enemy or competition..

Nope. Let the blacks police themselves. There is no reason a police officer should have to intervene when blacks are engaged in self slaughter, drug trafficking, gang banging, et al If it means a white police officer will automatically be seen as the criminal.

If I were a modern police officer I would just wait until the shooting stopped, than slowly roll over and take a report.

Depends, is the police from America or is it from another developed nation? American police does more harm than good, objectively speaking as in there has been times where the police refused to work and crime went down.

Nope I don't think you should pick someone because of their colour, (Only on merit) There needs to be a MUCH better screening process though for police in certain parts of America. Racism cannot be tolerated with any police force.

From what I've read in the BLM literature, in order to decrease crime in black communities we need to defund police. From my understanding, police are the cause of crime in black communities.
