Throughout human history, gender has been synonymous with sex. It has only been in recent years that a very small but vocal minority have tried to change the definition of the word "gender". Below is a list of "genders" from the ever-growing list. These are just the A's. There are dozens of others that are equally comical and absurd.

• Abimegender: A gender that is profound, deep, and infinite
• Abinary: Genders completely unrelated to the gender binary
• Acegender: Orientationgender that covers genders related to asexuality
• Aesthetigenders: Contains qualities of an aesthetic or sensory experience.
• Aftgender: Being aligned with the pronouns you were assigned at birth but wanting to change your sex.
• Agender: Feeling of having no gender.
• Aic: Xenogender that feels 'short' or 'small.'
• Androgyne: Genders related to being a combination of male and female.
• Apogender: Feeling entirely removed from the concept of gender.
• Astronomique: Genders related to/affected by astronomy.
• Azurgirl: A masculine-aligned girl/woman.

Gender = sex, and among the sane majority, it always will. People who say gender is a social construct alone on an island and not part normal human society.

A person can think and act any way they want. A woman can be a masculine lesbian and a guy can be a cross-dressing fem-boy. No prob.
But they can't switch physical genders with medical intervention. It's impossible and it's destructive to try.

Gender expectations are social scaffolding. They made sense when we had to chase down gazelles or starve but these days the difference between "what the average man can do" and "what the average woman can do" is a vanishgly small band in the ever-broadening spectrum of "what humans can do." It seems the only definition of gender that has any weight anymore is "do guys want to fuck it?" No one seems to care beyond that.

If we're talking about the newly adopted meaning of gender, yes. There are males out there who passably look like females and if you were to interact with them, you'd treat them like a female because you think they are one. Thus, socially, they are effectively females. They are NOT females, they are males, but socially they effectively are females. So socially they differ than their biology.

That's not to say this is true for all males who attempt to pass as females, some are clearly still male and are thus not always treated as though they were female, but the point still stands that in some cases, a male is treated like a female even by those who don't subscribe to transgenderism. And thus, gender is a social construct (but biological sex is not).

It's also a real thing.

The way we act should not represent gender.
The way we dress shouldn't either.
That's all social construct.
