I have no objection to assisting Ukraine. It is squarely in US interest to stop Russian expansion into Europe. And I think the vast majority of Ukrainian people are good, decent people who deserve their freedom and are brave honorable warriors.

1. Before the current war even started, Ukraine was one of the most corrupt countries on the planet. I don't want them killed, if they are not already dead. But at some point, you have to make the hard decision to sacrifice some lives to save even more lives. Hamas has always used the tactic of putting their missile launchers in civilian areas so that if Israel bombs them it will kill civilians. And they take hostages because they know that Israelis treasure human life and will pay any price just to save the life of one hostage. In past years Israeli's have traded over 1,100 Muslim terrorist prisoners for A SINGLE Israeli hostage.

The problem with that is that it encourages even more violence and hostage taking and leads to even more innocent deaths.

There comes a time when the message has to be sent that this will not be tolerated and don't even try it. And after 75 years of constant violence against Israel by these Arab Muslim terrorists, I think THIS is that time. And it's more than just a message this time too. They need to completely WIPE OUT Hamas once and for all. Sadly that is going to mean not only a lot of Israeli soldiers dying, but a lot of civilians dying too. It is the fault of Hamas, not Israel. They need to do, and have the right to do, whatever they need to do to eliminate the threat. Any deaths are deaths at the hands of Hamas, not Isreal.

Israel will try their best to limit the deaths of civilians and hostages as they always do. But once you start telling them what they can and cannot do you are dooming THEM to death. It is the unfortunate horror of war.

Of course I wouldn't. And I would not expect those families to be happy about such a decision either. It is devastating for them. But sometimes decisions have to be made in the bigger picture. That's what governments are for. That's why people serve in the military and families let them even knowing they may lose their lives in the process. Because we know that sometimes some lives must tragically be sacrificed to protect the lives of others.

I am certain that Israel will do everything possible to save as many of the hostages as possible, as they should. But that is not the mission. The mission is to make sure that Hamas can never again slaughter Israelis in an attack like the one that just occurred. It is sadly possible that none of the hostages will be able to be saved and to still accomplish that critical mission.

But IF there is no other way to stop further attacks from Hamas, and from what I am hearing it sounds as if there may not be, then I don't see any alternative. Of course I am in favor of BOTH saving the hostages AND preventing Hamas from killing thousands of more Israelis. But that may not be possible and I don't think the mission should be abandoned if it is not. Then MUST destroy Hamas once and for all or thousands of more peoples' families will be destroyed like they already are from their last attack and it may well mean the entire country of Israel is destroyed next... and this is the time to accomplish that.

Yes. It has just started. So far they have only done some precision bombings directely targeted at Hamas resources. The real carnage is going to start when they start the ground game. Gaza is the most population dense place in the world. The Israelis could have decided to just carpet bomb the entire place and kill everyone. But because they are the most humane people on the planet they are instead going to expose their young army to the most dangerous kind of warfare, door to door urban combat. And even worse, Hamas intentionally sets things up so that civilians will die first before Israel can get to the Hamas terrorists. Israel is telling people to get out before they attack and Hamas IS TELLING THEM TO STAY where they can act as their human shields. Israel's losses will be FAR higher than if they just bombed the entire country... all in the name of saving innocent people. I understand how you define the word humane. But a common definition includes killing. For example, even the biggest animal protection organization, the Humane Society, provides services to "humanely" end the life of a suffering animal that cannot be cured.

I see it as just and possibly necessary. To be fair people tried to kill him multiple times. That doesn't make it humane. Humane killing is only when it is to save the person or animal from existing in pain before dying in a short time. I wish my grandmother died a few weeks before she did, because at the end, the only sign she was alive were moans of pain when she was moved. People should be euthanized at that point. Likewise prolonging life where it will be pain and suffering shouldn't be allowed. Hitler doesn't fit that category.

In the end, as I see it, after Israel has done all it can to try to plan their defensive strike so it would save as many hostages as possible and as many civilians as possible, they need to move ahead and do what has to be done. It would be a miracle if they were able to free even a single hostage even if that was their only goal. These barbarians are scattering them all over the place in places that are pretty much impossible to get to before they kill them. And if they do die, Israel will be blamed anyway. So they just need to do what they need to do to wipe Hamas out.

My main gripe with HAMAS now is that they're basically sacrificing civilians to claim that Israel attacked civilian targets as opposed to military ones. HAMAS has military instillations in civilian areas. Israel is pretty much saying where they're going to attack and asking the civilians to leave, while HAMAS is telling them to stay.

Muslim terrorists have been using those tactics against Israel for 50 years or more. They want to MAXIMIZE civilian deaths so the world will blame Israel and not them. It ALWAYS goes that way. But as soon as Isreal tries to defend itself, no matter how careful they are to minimize loss of life, THEY are called the terrorists and everyone starts calling for ceasefires and peace and diplomacy.
