Absolutely correct. The war started because they were kidnapping American sailors and forcing them into the Royal Navy.

America lost several major battles and the white house was burned to the ground. America signed a pretty good peace deal (the Brits were more worried about Napoleon), and Andrew Jackson won the only major American victory at the Battle of New Orleans, which actually happened a couple weeks after the war was officially over.

Also they kept kidnapping American sailors after the war. That war is why the US now relies on a professional standing army, and not the militia system anymore.

The US lost the war of 1812, and we got a good peace deal because Napoleon was a bigger threat to the British Empire.
