Lived in the USA for six years. Frankly, wanted to leave after two weeks but was contracted.
Beautiful country, some nice people but it's f*cked up. Land of the free my ass!
Not remotely as free as the UK.
For those Americans with blind patriotism. I get it I do, Patriotism is a great thing until you realise you're not as free as you think.
I had the USA figured out in two weeks and questioned everything. Why does this, that or the other happen?
When I explained the many, many things in the UK that we take for granted but Americans haven't experienced because they are brought up to believe what they are told.
I'll take the 'Pledge of Allegience' as the primary example.
Taught and TOLD kids to say from as soon as they can talk!
What sort of 'FREE' country tells it's people to pledge allegience to a country, flag, President or whatever without having solid, facts about their country?
Do you know who else pledges allegience? Indocrinates their populus? North Korea and Russia!
Don't get me started on other bizarre laws the US has that the British population would never allow. In the UK we'd never, ever stand for a large number of things that go on in the USA.
The people would go batsh*t crazy!
I know the USA is a new country but it's insular, backwards and frankly as I told all my American friends. No different to Russia or North Korea.
Americans can't think for themselves as a majority because you've been brought up to think America is great.
Truth is, it isn't!
I had two step kids in the US and their history books tell a false narrative on the past. Paint over the bad, focus on what little positives the US had.
July 4th was always one of my favourites. Loved, loved, loved educating Americans on what really happened and when you actually were allowed independence in 1783.
We still came back and occupied Washington and New York for several years and burned down the White House twice!
In fact it is called the White House because of British fire damage!

+1 ySo much racism? Compared to what?
Tell me something. Why are there more black, Hispanic and Asian people desperate to come to America than to come to all the other countries in the world combined... even willing to risk their lives and give up everything they have just to get to America either legally or illegally? They are lined up by the MILLIONS begging to enter Ameroca.
Are you calling black people stupid? They are too dumb to know what a racist country America is? YOU sound like the racist here to me.
AND... America has also contributed more to medical science and technology than every other nation in history combined. 90% of all the life saving, extending and enhancing medicines and technologies used around the planet today were invented and developed in the United States of America.
The United States is the country people come to from countries with government provided medical care when the quality of care they need isn't available anywhere else. There is a thriving business for hospitals, hotels, restaurants and other businesses on US northern border providing care for people who live in Canada who cannot get the healthcare they need from their socialized government run health care system and must cross the border into the United States to get lifesaving medical care. People from every country in the world, including the leaders of many countries when they need critical care, fly to America to get it... the most advanced medical system in the world.
There was a scandal in Canada some years ago where their Prime Minister secretly flew to America in the middle of the night because he needed life saving medical care that he couldn't get in Canada after years of telling people there how much better a socialist medical system was. It was exposed.
So the premise for your question is blown out of the water by the facts.

+1 yIt's not as attractive as it once was. Being a Canadian, I knew a lot of retired people who used to buy condos or winter homes in Florida and Arizona and now all the retired people I know are buying in Mexico or the Caribbean. I'm getting closer to retirement age and so are my friends and none of us travel to the US anymore. I used to cross the border every week but I haven't visited the US since the beginning of Covid. No hate on Americans, most are great but the nutty ones got nuttier. I operated businesses in 2 states down there and have lots of American friends but I don't regret shutting them down and not moving there.

+1 yIt has some of the best health care in the world. If you really want good health care, go to the US. If you want cheap, go somewhere else.
As for racism, stop listening to the media. Probably most of the world is more racist than the US. Other places just don't make such a big deal out of it, and don't blow it all out of proportion.
Or just ask all the millions of immigrants who move to the US. Even the large majority of people from first world countries who move here love it. They also think it gets a bad rap.

+1 yWhile the Irish were dying of hunger, America prospered. While the rest of the world was at the mercy of a king, America prospered (turns out, an armed population is harder to oppress, who knew). While people are being arrested for the horrendous crime of telling a semi edgy joke in literally fucking anywhere apart from, you've guessed it. While the entirety of Europe was busy fighting for existence, America prospered. That last one happened twice.
Apart from totally real countries like Luxemburg and retarded welfare states that tax the shit outta you anyway, America has the highest median wages even today.
And back on the 1A, 2A stuff, just the past few days several nations have banned protests and are going to deport immigrants who don't suck the [redacted] of the [redacted]. So yeah, Americans still have way more freedom than Europeans.
Also the 'racism' is only bad if you're buying into the race grifting propaganda.

+1 yBecause your assertions are Marxist indoctrinated nonsense.
The problem with healthcare is its cost, not its quality or availability. You can live in lands with "free healthcare" where it is rationed or non-existent if you want. Sort of like how Cuba and North Korea claim to have "free healthcare".
And for a society as diverse as it is, it actually handles race and ethnic relations well. What's your ideal on ethnic harmony today? Bosnia? Ukraine? The migrants in Europe? Really now?00 Reply - 891 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yAmerica’s pre-9/11 image still holds true for many people around the world. Despite how much poverty has spread, the collapse of our healthcare, how much freedom we’ve lost, monopolies have taken over and the corruption and desiccation of our politics and institutions. It’s going to be wild how fast things disintegrate in the power vacuum America leaves behind.
01 Reply- +1 y
But that's just it. All the decline you decry, which sadly is quite true, has come from the very people who make the kind of assertions that @whistlingwh0res does, and the awful policies those very same people have advocated and have pushed upon us in the last decade and a half.

+1 yYou are so ignorant it's comical. America is the least racist country on Earth; if you don't believe me visit pretty much any other country. There is healthcare here and while our system has a lot of problems other countries also have problems like in Canada where there is a months-long wait for most office visits and procedures. Stop believing everything woketard influencers on Tiktok tell you!
00 Reply 3.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. The healthcare is excellent if you have good insurance. Why do you think foreign leaders fly here for major procedures?
And there isn't necessarily more racism than there is in other countries. Canada, Mexico, Russia, Japan all come to mind.
00 ReplyBecause of money 💰🤑. People go to US for money only. They don't really love Americans. They could care less if they were offered same in for instance Germany or Hungary even.
It's really just greed and money and Greed attracts greedy people to US
00 Reply303 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Marketing. America marketed “freedom” and “free will” which means people in America have more opportunities to seek out financial success through malpractice/ fame / impurity meanwhile we are trapped in a capitalist world
00 Reply12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Because it is like a gold mine - 95% shit and problems, but that 5% can be worth it, if you can find it.
So people go there to "test" before moving onto more civilised places, like Canada and Europe.

Opinion Owner+1 yno offence but america's patriotism is so over the top it borders on insanity, and it blinds them to wonders elsewhere that are better than what they have at home.
what I've seen first person of america is ugly and overcrowded and polluted, But you do have reasonable taxation and guns.
However my country shits all over america for lifestyle.
and we dont have darkies robbing and murdering us
Because it isn't attractive. I certainly wouldn't want to live there, and am eternally thankful I didn't grow up in that weird foreign country.
