I think the small areas that have improved our lives pale in comparison to the decay our society is experiencing. There are so many potential catastrophes lining up and increasing almost on a daily basis, I think we passed the point of no return years ago. I could spend hours listing everything that’s broken in the US alone. Not trying to be pessimistic, I think things will eventually get better, but it will take a generation or two.

Depends on the metric. The US GDP has grown from $53,291 per capita in 2013 to $76,399 in 2022. Innovation has continued at an impressive pace. Renewable energy is growing and becoming more prevalent. Even the concept of having groceries delivered to your house didn’t really exist 10 years ago.


Now. Someone I’m sure would argue that the economic growth hasn’t been evenly distributed. Innovation hasn’t truly made America better. Renewable energy has cost people jobs. Grocery delivery to your house isn’t the mark of success.


So it truly depends on how you look at it. Me personally, I’m a glass is half full person and think our country continues to see incredible progress and improvement overtime. 10 years isn’t the longest time. But think back 100 years. And WW1 had recently happened. WW2 and the Great Depression were on the horizon. Our country has come so far since then.


That doesn’t mean we aren’t facing new challenges or problems today. But when have we not?

I don't think it's just America. The whole world has got worse. I don't know if it's just me, but people have become crueler, more selfish and unempathetic to others' suffering. I think social media is to blame for this

It's gotten better in some ways. There's still a lot to improve.
