The pride and support for our veterans really came from WWI and WWII. It continued afterwards even as we progressively lost our morality in Vietnam, South and Central America, Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, the Balkans, Syria, and 125 undeclared wars that successive administrations didn't want Congress or the American citizens voting on. Dark little conflicts we funded and engineered and participated in. Somewhere along the way it became OK, normal, accepted, to operate this way for profits, not any existential threat or humanitarian motivation. Our current defense spending is $920 billion, almost $1 trillion dollars. It is out of control.

The US has been doing nothing else since 1945 then invading, plundering and bombing the shit out of other country's. There is nothing that can rectify their actions and they have been and still are the biggest terrorist of them all!

I dont understand that US citizens see their veterans as hero's because to me they are criminals of war and supporting crimes against humanity as a whole.

Compared to the history of the rest of the world, the US is an insanely young country. In all honesty, we haven’t outgrown the worst parts of ourselves yet because some of the worst people who contributed to the worst parts of American culture within the last century are still alive and have more influence than most realize.

Is it the worst country in history? No... Definitely not. And many American inventions and discoveries have improved the quality of life of many people across the world by the way.

I think we have had a terrible set of presidents and have a corrupt congress. Trump is cleaning it up which is why they have tried to kill him multiple time and have thrown everything they could at him but the majority of the populace saw through that and voted him in.

We still are number 1 in economy, per capita income (look this up as it is important), military, space, science, entertainment and much more. Our form of government has always been loud and crazy if you look back in history. And history teachers will tell you as such.

If someone takes out a loan for 1 million dollars and then blows it all on gambling and hookers before going broke and homeless, would you say that their life was worse after they ran out of money?

Personally I do not really see them as separate. While enjoying themselves gambling and pursuing hookers is superficially better compared to suffering as homeless, one is the "debt" and direct result of the other.

Same with USA. The unsustainable society and government that USA enjoyed while "times were good" has directly lead to the problems and situation it is in today. Be it the national debt, incompetent leadership, ignorant voters or any other factor that you want to point towards, they all have their roots back in history directly to choices that people made back then. Be it knowingly or unknowingly, they acted very irresponsibly when shaping the future and we are simply here today to cash in the debt that they have accumulated in our name.
