In terms of having the largest military capabilities, yes.

In terms of many other factors, no. The USA leads the world in most incarcerated citizens per capita, most child deaths due to gun violence, and it ranks 136th out of 196 countries in literacy. Let's not even talk about health care.

And just because it's better than Canada or the UK doesn't mean it's great. The USA spends more on health care per person than any other country and has worse health outcomes per capita.

Only 17-36 percent in Europe were taking them. Moreover, 60 percent of antipsychotic drugs prescribed in the U. S. were of the newest generation. Only 10 percent in Germany were new.

We have more MRI and CT scanners per capita than anywhere else.

Far more clinical testing occurs in the U. S., providing patients with cutting edge techniques and treatments, as well as drugs.

The point you overlook about what the UK and Canada do WELL that the USA does NOT, is "good, solid primary care". The US doesn't believe that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", because there's a lot more MONEY to be made for corporations and big pharma the way it's done here.

We're good at the things you point out - keeping people alive ONCE they're chronically ill, but we suck at primary care, which is cheap by comparison and that plays out in the long run. I AGREE.. the USA is the place to be if you need specialized, cutting-edge treatment for something. However, here's an example of a HUGE failing: Maternal death. UK and Canada, 6.5 and 8.4 respectively, per 100,000 births. The USA is 23.8 . USA Black moms are 55.3 per 100,000 births.

The point is WHERE we spend our money. Not only that, but the restrictive anti-abortion laws in many red states have forced hospitals to shutter maternity wards and severely limit pre-natal health care opportunities, especially for lower income families. OBGYN's are leaving these states for obvious reasons - they can't do their jobs. Is that the "culling" you're referring to, sir?

USA Black moms largely don't believe in proper prenatal care either... availability or no, and smoking in black ameria in the first trimester is far more common.

Primary care is free in the sense of annual checkups on most insurance plans. So are flu vaccines. Two dental visits a year for cleanings. What primary care is so expensive? You're paying your copay whether it's life threatening or routine, and your max out of pocket is the same regardless of whether it's all spent on surgery or all spent on drugs or any combination therein. As someone who hits their max out of pocket every year, I see no difference in where it's going and to which doctor.

I've never seen a maternity ward shutter outside of BFE. PBS says it's happening in New Hampshire, New York, Delaware, Florida, Mississippi, Texas, Wyoming, hardly a list or red states, so there must be some other commanality. Are all the ones closing in some small town bumpkin hospital? That seems like their medical care would be lacking anyway. Losing OBGYNs sucks, to be sure. We've had a loss of primary care physicians as it is no longer as profitable as specialized medicine. The problem many times is everybody wants to be a doctor in LA instead of St Louis, despite the fac that a lot of places like Wyoming and matching the pay in areas with higher values to the dollar. Ask an anesthesiologists or most APRNs how rough life is in Peoria...
