Democrats have told me that the reason Biden isn't in trouble for illegally having classified documents in his garage, was because he gave them back. I'm confused. If having classified documents is illegal for a vice president or senator, and robbing banks is illegal, what difference does it make if you give them back?

I mean, technically. But if you give it back, they in theory, might not press charges. But you could still be charged for the original robbery, but the judge might take into consideration that you gave it back, and give you a lighter sentence.

But this is all purely theoretical, as in real life, you'd most likely be arrested upon trying to return it.
