Yes. Even if one side is hardly fighting back at all, they need to provide something for the other person to pounce and turn into an argument.


People that want to start a fight can find any reason to. But, if you don’t give them anything to work with, it’ll be difficult to keep a fight going when it’s just a long monologue.


If you can find a way to stay completely calm and collected, it’ll feel exhausting for the other person to keep their energy so high while you’re giving nothing to feed the flame.

If you’ve ever worked in customer service, handling customer complaints, you can see how little an angry customer needs to blow up. Sometimes you’ve already solved their problem, but they are still angry, so they continue to berate you anyway.

It’s best to not get into a relationship with such people. If it’s in the real world, and not your job to deal with them, the best thing to do is leave.

But if you can’t leave for whatever reason (say they’re your parents or an in-law), the best thing to do is to remain mature and civil in your interactions and don’t give them any ammunition to work with.

Yes and No, some people particularly women will demand something that can't be given from anther due to emotions being unable or unwilling to rationally recognize that fact.

This will in turn cause them to become very abusive and prevent the other from having any out. In such case it takes only one, for the other could sit like a rock and they would still be attacked, nor can they leave.
